Your Black Friday

In contrast to the Wal-Mart incident thread, let's try something a little happier.

What did you do/get this Black Friday?

I was scheduled to work 9:30am to 6pm in Personnell (I don't know WHY, I had expected Electronics or the floor), though it was mainly answering the phone (ringing off the hook for shit we didn't even have left come 10:00) and keeping the break room clean what with 20 people going on breaks at once.

Oh, and the power to my store went out at 5:30am. You'd think that would ruin it, but nope, it didn't stop shit; our generator kicked in and all of our registers and mobile equipment were running, though the lights were pretty much out. This went on until 10:30, when the lights finally flickered back on. Come to find out, even without power, we whooped the district's ass in sales in that timeframe. O_o

Then my shift ended, I went to go find an external HDD that was on sale to find out that it was gone (what a surprise :rolleyes:). I managed to grab a lower capacity one for a substituted price, and didn't pay much at all.

So how about you guys?

500gb external LaCie HDD (http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=11023) (FW800) for 180$ at the PX. Was eying their 1TB ethernet drive but I got the same HDD last March for 260 and I really dont want to have to run it under the sidekick USB 2.0 port on the TB drive.

Oh and I got the new NFS and Left4Dead. vOv, The only good thing is that I don't pay any kind of sales tax. Totaled out to be 305$, and back in texas the sales tax is like 8%, so I saved almost 25$

I got up at 6:30..... Came down, used comp, played games for about 20 minutes, listened to Radio.... Went back to sleep at about 9, slept till about 12, woke up, came down, ate, used compy, ate, used compy, ate leftover pie, and soda.

It is awesome.

As stated before, I got a 9mm Hi-Point carbine for $125 and some cheap Federal Premium 9mm hollowpoints. I also purchased a nice straight-edge Ka-Bar knife for only $50, and CoD: WaW (PC) for $35.

I lucked out on Call of Duty. It was the last copy in the store. Luckily, I was open carrying my Sig P220, so nobody contested me for it.

Woke up at 4AM, Showered, got picked up by a friend at 4:30, went to the Burbank Fry's Electronics, waited in line until about 5AM, looked for a few minutes, noticed that everyone in the fucking store had Samsung 32" LCDs, ran into a friend carrying off three of the fucking things and learned that there was an insane deal going on, missed out on that, looked for other stuff, wasn't interested in anything, went to Best Buy to see if they if they would a Price Match with the same TV, was told no, went home, moped.

Then I wrote an application essay for some UC system schools.

The day after Thanksgiving, when stores decide to open at the asscrack of dawn to start Christmas sales. Most people fall for this ploy and wake up at 4am to fight other mothers for cheap presents.

Well, in that case, on Black Friday, which wasn't anything special here, I got up at ten, called up my friend, played some Halo 3 with him until noon, went on the PC for an hour, went into town with my mom and my sister, got some boots, a christmas tree, The Cole Protocol, then went out for supper, came home, played some Force Unleashed, then stayed up until 1am talking to my brother, who's at University, and some friends on MSN.

I work as a floor salesman in our gaming media department at Best Buy so my black Friday was great! I had to come into work at 3:00 A.M and work until 3:00 P.M. I get to work and have to force my way through the mobs of people camped in front of our store (turns out there was a pregnant woman camped there since that Wednesday) after the ordeal of trying to find a parking place. After all that I head in expecting to be plopped into gaming where I feel most comfortable. Turns out I had to be sent to the most secluded area of the store, that being the music section. I thought “sweet, I can walk around and do just about nothing for 12 hours!” But as it turns out the line of customers waiting to make their purchases was so large that it actually weaved in and out of all but ONE of the isles in the music section. So I was stuck basically dealing with all the bitchy customers waiting in line that asked some of the most obvious question and expect me to run all over the store to grab items that they were to fucking lazy to grab before getting in line.

About 4 hours later the line died down and the floor opened up to reveal all the trash and wrappings from shop lifted CDs that people left behind while they waited in line. So I cleaned all that up and afterwards just walked around contacting customers for the rest of my shift and help the occasional customer find a CD that they didn’t bother looking for before coming to me. Which was kind of trying at times because our employ tool kit was down pretty much all day :gonk:. So all and all the first few hours were a pain in the ass but in the end it wasn’t so bad.
