Well, my 500gb external hdd died yesterday, it contained all of my backups of software I bought, or videos and the like, and now I cannot access it, I tried the trick of freezing it overnight and it still doesn't work.
Whenever I tried to plug it in, the computer would notice it's there, but whenever it tried to access it, the whole pc just started to lock up, and in order to do anything else, I would have to unplug the external hdd.
Its a Maxtor 3200 external 500gb hdd, which, I found a seagate barracuda 7200.10 in it. I opened it up, *twas an ass* made sure all the cables where connected properly and there where no burns, and It still did not work, so I unplugged the hdd from the enclose and connected it to another spare hdd I had lying around, and It did not lock up, it just wouldn't allow me to access it through my computer, but would show up in device manager, probably because It wasn't formatted though.
Anyone have any ideas? Or is the hdd kaput?
Im asking because I recently had to format my whole internal hdd :S
