Garry's Mod, Im newb to it, and need help.

-First off, what exactly is Gary's Mod?
-where can i get it?
-Is it free? or must i use some cash?
-do i need any other program installed before i use it? (such as half life 2 or so)

Might help if you had actually looked at the links he sent you.

Garry's mod 9 (the last free version) can be found here (http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/HalfLife_2_Garrys_Mod;49585).
Garry's mod 10 (or simply Garry's Mod or Gmod) costs US $9.99 on steam.

To play Garry's mod 9, you must own atleast 1 of any of these games: Half Life 2, Counter-strike: Source or Day of Defeat: Source.
For Gmod 10, any source engine game will do (any of the above, any of the HL2 episodes, Team Fortress 2, Portal or Left 4 Dead).

I suggest giving Gmod 9 a go before buying Gmod 10 (although it is only ~$10 USD..) just to see if Gmod is the sort of game you'd be interested in. There's certainly a wide variety of game modes for Gmod (mainly Gmod 10, like Role Play, Space Build, dedicated construction, Melon Racer, etc) so you should be able to find something to enjoy.
Then again, it's not everybody's cup of tea.

However, if you encounter any troubles with Gmod 9 and still want to try it, your only going to get one option when you ask for help:
Buy Garry's Mod 10.
