... Make a dedicated server for Halo Custom Edition v1.0.0.609, AKA the version that still has some players. A quick "You need this file this document and this much internet connection" would be nice.
BTW I'm going to run this dedi off my extra comp. v1.0.0.609 has a lot of players but not enough dedi's running good map cycles.

1mbps upload/download is the minimum for a good 16 player server, I've got a 5mbps download/512kbps upload connection and I can host a 10 player decently.
As for the dedicated server for v1.0, I guess you can just do a fresh install of CE and copy the dedicated server files (strings.dll and haloceded.exe) for use after patching...

I'm going to do a 8 player server. I like small servers they require a bit more strategy and skill. And I'll try the fresh install thing.

Well I got a server running and it shows up in the Game list but I can't join it from the computer its on... And I don't know if people can join it online yet. I get the retrying thing and then it says "unable to join game". Help?
edit-
I tried to join my server useing my laptop connected to my neighbors wireless. It said "retrying connection 1 2 3" then it said "Connected" then "Loading map Derelict" then it went ingame and then back to the menu and said "You CD key is invalid" then I tried again and it did the same thing but said "Game has closed down"
WTF?

because the servers runnning on the same key as your laptop...
You can't have the same cdkey playing together, EVER
and the reason you can't join your own server is because, well it's a dedicated server XD

The laptops useing a different key. Also some people said that they couldn't join the server.
Why can't I join a dedicated server that's running on the same computer?

My router is unplugged. The network cable goes from my computer straight to the cable internet box thing. My firewall is off too.

you need to change your ports in halo.
change your client port to something other than 2302, which is what the dedi uses by default.
also, server doesn't need, or use the cd key of your ce install.. you can keep the dedi files and uninstall ce and the server will still work.
