After looking around for more information about my graphic card. I came past this. It is a plugin for having real time PhysX in the 3ds max viewport.

I imagine that would be really helpful for making destroyed buldings and such for renders. You wouldn't have to spend so much time making it look natural.

Is that nVidia/PhysX cards only, or is it hardware-independant?

i think it's only on the grid. that's what i'm observing.

Looking at the user guide, imo, this is an invaluable tool.
Only catch is that you need the SDK and a GeForce card (200 series, 8 series, or 9 series, which get support through the lastest graphics drivers). But, as I just found out, this is free (http://developer.download.nvidia.com/PhysX/2.8.1/PhysX_2.8.1_SDK_Core.msi).

Holy crap you could simulate the MECHANICS of how a gun functions (somewhat obvious, but still ridiculously awesome).
I've experimented a bit with it; it is quite amusing what you can do with the different effects.

But... 3DS Max already has Reactor...
The only difference I see is that you can interact in the viewport, rather than using the simulation window...

Yeah, so you can modify the scene using physics instead of a boring mouse.

Make sure you're running the right display drivers/physX driver and have the sdk installed.
Ow, if you're on 64 bit, it wont matter.

If I know correctly, you require an nVidia PhysX capable graphics card to run this. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Could be, but I have one, It's even turned on in my control panel.
