Finaly got myself together a PC that could run 3ds max after several months chasing down a motherboard that was sent off for repairs.
Anyways, i looked on this forum and looked up a few tutorials and decided to try my hand at some 3d modeling and feel as though ive done a better job this time than i have in the past.
I would like to share the progress from the basics part to the building made the only thing left is for internals which i am going to redesign to give the building some sort of purpose.

you've got a non-planar on the large flat side of the base (visible in picture 1)

The detail thing you've added to the side of the tower looks horrible, I would just remove it and think of something better and more forerunner to put in its place.

The non-planar ive already seen and fixed and the "rib cage" bit i added was to sort of mimic the one on the bases in vahalla and i thought it kind of looked like a foreruner heatsink of sorts..
seen here: http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=59080553
I know its a little drastic but im trying to find ideas on how to make the building look like it has some sort of purpose.
if you got any ideas to add more purposefull looks be my guest and say so.

Forerunner upright structures like that have a taper in two directions, meaning the top and front are thinner than the bottom and rear. Yours is one thickness all the way through. The wedge you've made looks like a chamfered box. If anything, delete the whole upper and restart that.

for the majority of the model i followed this:

any possibility to salvage the work i put in to correct the error?

Forerunner or not, I rather fancy the ribbyness you added.
Nobody ever defined forerunner, so go ahead and give it a personal twist man!

Just looked in halo 3 and noticed the bases in vahalla dont have that taper when going up, although my model is far from being accurate i think il just progress from where i am now and work on the function for my model.
thanks for the interest though.

why not try to create something unique with the design concepts, instead of emulating what we've all seen 12323 times?
Just my thoughts on it...
But I guess you could be using this as experince..
Good job so far tho
