Having Tool errors again:-

I was making my first real weapon model...

And Tool plays spoilsport.

Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'

EXCEPTION halt in .\intermediate_geometry.c,#444:triangle->material_index>=0 && triangle->material_index<old_material_count
This happened many times before this model. Anyone willing to enlighten me?

Heres the model:-
AK 47(3ds Max 8) - FileFront.com (http://files.filefront.com/AK+473ds+Max+8/;12650262;/fileinfo.html)

P.S.- Also, after a little toying around, I managed to do away with this error, but got a bigger one.

While doing the model command in tool, it simply says the name of the jms and nothing else. Quote:

### ak.jms
Nothing else.

Please help:f5:

obviously it's an error in materials...
Seeing as it says materials like 3 times in the error..

Was this really worth a thread, couldn't you have asked someone on AIM or something?

and btw, your UVs are kinda crap..I can see wiggly lines in the texture on the base of the gun, and on the clip..just a side note..

Well, I did say it was my first real model, did you expect a mean machine out of this? :p

I woulda have asked someone on MSN or Xfire, but I don't know any real modder and the Halo modellers I know have all moved on to Crysis

Also, tried asking elsewhere, all the replies were "I dunno"

I realised this was about materials, so I did some clearing and the new error comes up(Tool says nothing about the model)

some how somewhere, there's either a bad material, no material, or a material id that isn't existant..
Maybe try exporting it into a new max scene?
And I was just commenting on what I seen, for all I know you thought the UV map rocks socks?

Never mind, some guy at Halo maps helped me fix all this. I selected all faces and gave 'em a material ID of 1 and somehow it worked. Seems like there was a face with no material ID :p

Anyway, thanks.
