Crap! Password!

Okay since my other computer kinda crashed and fried i got this computer that my mom got from her work that is a replacement for her other computer, and it turns out that it has a password and stuff. No body knows the password and it runs on windows 2000 NT. I was wondering if there is a way i can access the computer by getting pass the login screen when windows starts up.

Try Ophcrack. It's simple and all you have to do is burn the image on a cd to make it a live CD. Then follow the instructions. Here is an article on LifeHack (http://lifehacker.com/software/password-recovery/screenshot-tour-how-to-crack-a-windows-password-with-ophcrack-live-cd-232963.php).

The problem is that i can't burn things onto a cd....Ill try going into safemode and try to access the account through that.

you can go into safemode and use the admin account, then just take the password off the other account.

If you can log into an account... run cmd.exe

type
net user first
and then look for the name of the login you want to change the password of and then type
net user <name> * Yes with the asterisk after the name. It will ask you what you want to change the password to, and there you have it.
