I've been contemplating getting a second monitor to use with my Macbook Pro for some time, I'm really disliking the lack of screen real estate when working at home and to be honest, don't like going back to my PC, which has two monitors (mainly because I've let it sit and rot all this time, I need to throw a new hard drive and re-install Vista and clean the hardware.)

Anyway, I'm curious as to how OS X handles using a second monitor, is it similar to Windows?

Google yields no viable information?

It works well. Arguably easier than on Windows.

It works well. Arguably easier than on Windows. What kind of options do you have for control of the second screen? How does spaces work with it?

I'm wondering if it's more feature rich then in Vista, in Vista I've always had to use third party programs to achieve the results I've wanted (even something as simple as assigning a different wallpaper to the second monitor.) I know it's probably more intuitive but I'd rather more features with a bit more difficulty in using them then simply plug and play simplicity with no advanced user control.
