Can someone give me a list of the most populated pc games there are? Also, what are the numbers?

Try not to inclue MMORPG's, I hate those.

Pretty much every Valve multiplayer game, including Gmod. Left 4 Dead is probably the most populated at the moment, but I don't know the numbers.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty 2
Counter-Strike: Source

Ok, the most populated I found so far is half-life. Gamespy said that it has around 40,000-50,000 people online.

I looked up battle field and gamespy said it had around 5,000-10,000 people at any time. I already have CoD4 too.

How are the numbers on UT2004? What about UT1999?

Who me?
I just want a good multiplayer game with a large amount of people to play with (when I say large, I mean at least 500-1,000 at any time, over 2,000 people would be really nice).

Lmao Skulltag. I love how a game from 1994 is a most played game for PC.

I was surprised that Half-life 1 was the most played online game there is.
Found this:

It kind of sucks how the numbers go down so fast.
Edit: Quake 4 has 500 people online?! I'm going to go play some.

Unreal Tournament 3 is so far down the list.

That's because the only difference between UT3 and all the games before it is better graphics :|

I thought it had less extreme bunny hopping than the other games.

I have UT3, and the gamespot at the mall has 'Unreal Anthology' for $4.99, so I'm planning on getting that too.

It's Counter-Strike, not Half-Life. (http://archive.gamespy.com/stats/mods.asp?id=15&s=1)

Also that site doesn't count TF2, or L4D, or most of these games (http://store.steampowered.com/stats/).

Yeah, we'd have to combine the highs of ALL Halo CE versions. I think that'd be close to 500-600. There are usually around 200 when I enter 1.00 almost anytime.

:gonk:Ehh... that's the thing with Unreal Tournament... never really blows out with people all the time... but it sells fairly constantly over a 4 year span.

UT's never really about making a blockbuster sale... it's about having a game which you turn on when you've got 10 minutes to (ironically) kill.

Hence why it's NoDisk cracked right from the get-go.

It's all about DotA these days. (which isn't a bad thing)

I'm a DotA hater. Takes out the originality in the game because so many people play it and don't give anything else a chance and therefore less maps get circulated so the good maps get dropped off the cliff.

I tried to play DotA, but I sucked, The controls and interface were not the kind I am anything close to good with

Yeah that's another thing. If you suck in DotA the people playing will boot you :/

Damn, COD4 in the U.S has so much players, here there is barely any servers with pings under 100. Or at least that's what the server browsers shows.

The only game there that does look interesting is TF2. I think I might get the orange box, it's only $30 now. I might be able to get unreal anthology and orange box for $35, and I'll get 9 games.

I just can't believe H:CE is higher on that list than The Sims. That's pretty impressive for a game going on 8 years old.
It gives me new hope for the potential audience I'm catering to with BCE.
(yes, I know that H:CE is distinct from HCE. These damned acronyms, sheesh)

The Orange Box blew my mind tbh. Once you play Episode Two and go back to regular HL2, you'll see how linear and fake it was without all the new open environments and sexy new particle effects. :( And I've never played TF2. EVER....I feel left out.

Click the link at the bottom of the page for a list of players per game with Steam. (http://store.steampowered.com/stats/)

Football Manager 2009 has... 30,000 people playing it? What the hell?

Either Counter Strike game is pretty much the most played non-mumoperger game out there. It's hard to believe that Halo is higher than TF2, seeing as it has a good 15,000 people on it, while Halo usually has 500-1000 on it...
