Two weeks ago we had a foot of snow which is recorded record for Washington. Now we're in the middle of a goddamn flood and the Seattle I-90 was closed.

Also: There was an EBS (Emergency Broadcast System) Message on the Radio this morning.

Anyone else having crazy ass rain/snow/heat/ice storm out there?

before you say lol global warming is stupid, remember that global warming is global climate change

We got 40 CM of snow today.

No school bus cancellation, or anything. On another note our Public Transit busses are on strike so unless you have your own car it's damn near impossible to get anywhere.

Blizzzards still going too.

Rain for 2 days straight. Temp has been JUST above freezing, so nothing has come of it. Except me getting cold and wet walking to school.

E : Pretty much what huero said, but it's heavier than a drizzle.

the weather channel keeps saying things like "OH MAN WE ARE GOING TO GET A WINTRY MIX"
and it drizzles.

Screw all y'all and your precipitation. Today was the first day we've even had rain since winter officially started. My senior year was supposed to have a blizzard, man. :(

If you don't mind me asking, where exactly in Ontario are you, southern or northern? I live in southern Ontario and the weather's been the same here as well. ~5 inches of snow with almost double on the way. Makes for some shitty driving conditions.

OT: Ontario elementary school teachers are going on strike. Wish I was still in elemenetary...

Meh, GTA gets no major shit. 12.5 Inches of snow in Whitby last night, almost normal for a snow fall. Freezing rain you gotta watch out for, that shit is dangerous.

Random Tornado Warnings and Flood watches, not to mention the weather is that annoying type of cold. The sky changes randomly from overcast to partly cloudy too. Isn't Georgia the weirdest state ever?

Don't count on it. You would have to hijack 3 school busses and drive them off a cliff or something to get it through the thick skulls of the people who decide these things that BLIZZARDS + FREEZING RAIN + 20CM of snow = Snow day.

I'm from Vancouver, BC. Throughout the winter break it snowed like mad, and I was trapped indoors instead of vacationing in California like I planned. It was almost impossible to drive. My Toyota Highlander had winter tires on it, but the blizzard-like snow created poor visibility and my parents also feared that some idiot without proper tires might lose control and crash into our car.

On the bright side, this was the first time Vancouverites could experience a real "white Christmas" (it's never snowed at this time of the year before) and the smooth, thick snow mounds outside the house were beautiful and fun to play in.

Around 4 days ago, the snow FINALLY stopped, but the max temperature was only 3 or 4 degrees Celsius, which meant that all the snow and slush and ice was going to stay for a very long time.

Today's been a saving grace and the first time I actually welcomed rainfall, as it raised the temperature to 9 degrees Celsius and now most of my driveway and the cul-de-sac outside are totally free of ice/snow (all washed away by the downpour).

Thanks to the hard work of the regional road-maintenance crews, the major roads in Vancouver always remained clear (either salted or plowed) during this surprisingly severe winter storm, the worst I've ever seen since I first moved here in 2004.

I can only imagine how bad it was (and may still be) on the east side, meaning provinces like Ontario or states like Massachusetts.

Florida. It better get cold though. As much as I need a tan, I'm sick of the warm sunny weather.

No, California is the weirdest state ever. That type of weather is nothing compared to what us SoCal people experience, except for maybe the tornado warnings.

Which part do you live in? I live in the southern area of Greater Vancouver, really close to Richmond (not sure whether it's actually a separate city since it is classified as Metro Vancouver). This area has a very good drainage system and so all the melting ice hasn't caused problems for anyone in my neighborhood.

How bad is the flooding, anyway? Do mini-lakes pop up everywhere?

They were supposed to be canceled, but they decided to stall a bit, and only thought "hey, they buses should be canceled today" AFTER they picked up some kids. I was surprised when nobody was late to class yesterday, though there were like, what? 4 people missing?

I-5 to Portland has been closed. If you're wondering, I-5 runs from Seattle to Southern Cali, so this is shitty because if you try to go south, you're fucked unless you take all of the back roads.

Richmond is considered a sererate city. I used to go from Langley to richmend with the ferry.

School is supposed to be shut where I live, but the school board decided it's close to exams and students need the time to complete assignments. :-|
