View Full Version : WHAT THE FUCK MC DONALDS

Wakeboy1337
January 16th, 2009, 09:16 AM
So yesterday I went to Mcdonalds, Got a couple of dollar menu cheeseburgers as usual, then my little bro got a couple of "mc doubles" which appear to also cost a a dollar apiece but with two beef patties instead of my one per burger, yet his meal came out to the same price as mine. Fuck I'm going to do something stupid or complain.

Sorry about the little rant here but that's so goddamn stupid. (And I suppose I'm partilly to blame for not seeing them on the menu)

ODX

Trust me, I just got on, I'm not sitting around on Modacity waiting for rants like this to happen, and so on.

The difference between yours and his is that he doesn't have cheese, and for some reason cheese costs just as much as a burger. If you want me to ask my dad (he works at the main McDonald's corporation building) I bet he could give me a good answer to tell you.

Please ask him.Alright, he gets back at around 7:00 P.M Central, or in 8.5 hours give or take half an hour. I'll reply when I have some sort of response.

I guess I wont be getting cheese anymore.I bet it would be easier to just put your own on it, if you were to have brought it back home to eat that is.

Chillax. The price of cheese (hell, all dairy stuff) went up. This is old news.

McDouble has 1 slice of cheese, double cheeseburger has 2. They needed some way to still have a tried and true favorite on the menu but still not take a hit with the cost of materials going up.

Don't get pissed off at McDonalds...

You made the order. You should have read the menu better.

It's like Dasani, where you can pick up a litre for less than like 3/4s of a litre.

If you complain... you're "one of them"... and if you never worked retail before... you'll find out who "they" are if/when you do.

The macdouble comes with 1 slice of cheese or is suppose to. Its the same thing as the double cheeseburger just 1 slice of cheese less and .30 cents cheaper and honestly taste the same. I cant taste the difference between 2 slices of cheese and 1.

LOL winner.

I never eat fast food unless the family is on a long drive early in the morning and needs to pull over for a light meal. Last time I ate any kind of fast food was 2 years ago when we made a family trip to Seattle early in the morning, and because we hadn't eaten breakfast we pulled off the interstate and had a pretty bad meal at Carl's Jr, the first eating place we found.

McDonalds is not a place I'd want to go to if I could help it, the stuff tastes horrible and it probably has bits of crap in the meat too. The only thing I'd buy from them would be dessert or a drink, but I'm sure I can get better dessert for the same price elsewhere.

Thank god my mother can cook quick yet decent meals, so I don't even need to eat out, let alone eat fast food, over 90% of the time.

Heh, tbh I've been gradually learning her tricks, plus at university I'm definitely buying a meal plan.

McDonald's is quite hilarious, actually. You should watch Super Size Me and see just what those burgers and fries can do to a person's health.

Up in Canada McDonalds is a bit more expensive than in the states because we don't have 99-cent menus and stuff. I don't think I've ever eaten fast food here, actually, I ate fast food from time to time when I was living in California, because $1 burger + $1 apple pie = unbeatable deal for a meal no matter how bad it is.

Oh god not super size me AGAIN. I've seen that damn movie so many times in school. Who eats McDonald's Like that anyways? If you do you need help. To me, obesity is not a disorder to me it's called GET UR FAT ASS OUTSIDE AND EXERCISE!!!! I eat all this supposedly nasty unhealthy bad shit, yet............get this.............I'M PERFECTLY HEALTHY!!! Oh btw this wasn't directed at you in any way. I was just sounding off on the "health professionals" Who act like you become an unhealthy piece of shit if you eat ANY type of fast food.

Mr Buckshot

As Bruce Willis said in Fast Food Nation:

It is a sad fact of life, Don, but the truth is we all have to eat a little shit from time to time.

Then he says something about how cooking it properly makes it harmless.

I'd believe him, actually. McDonalds is OK if you regulate the amount of trips you make there, and above all exercise constantly. Nevertheless, those chemical-processed meats can damage your insides even if you exercise, so just...be careful.

Interestingly, when I was living in Asia as a little kid, McDonalds was a treat for me, i.e. "if you get 100% on your exam I'll buy you McDonalds with ice cream" - my mom when I was 7 years old. Now, it's just plain undesirable.

Chemically processed meats?

My dad worked in the meat industry for over 25 years and McDonalds has the most strict meat policy's of anyone in the business and deploy a one strike and your out type policy. And because of the size and quantity of the orders nobody in there right mind would fuck up a McDonald's contract.

And i dont think the policy would change too much from Australia to America.

I'm pretty sure that eating but regular burgers and home-cooked french fries is just as detrimental to your health as eating at McDonald's.

Unless of course, you got a George Foreman grill or something.

Rook

Don't know about that. I saw this experiment where the mcdonalds fries lasted a month plus without getting moldy or anything, the burgers lasted longer than normal as well.

It depends, in the south there are some meat plants that exploit illegal immigrant labor from Mexico and suffice to say they don't do as great a job as in better plants. And no, this is not from Fast Food Nation, there are many such businesses in the south, not just for meat.

Chemical analysis of quite a few burgers from various chains turned up traces of...undesirable stuff, but nothing that could really harm your health. After all they freakin' grind up the entire cow so you could be eating the cow's heart and asshole for all you know, but as long as it's cooked properly it shouldn't be a problem. Still, normal meat > processed ground-up meat.

Then you have to take into account the preservative chemicals put into the meat to prevent decay. While small dosages of those preservatives won't harm, excess consumption of such chemicals can harm you in the long run.

This.

That supersize me movie is NOT a documentary. It is biased to an extreme degree, and fails to provide the scientific angle it tries to prove-- it lacks a control group, and uses only one subject to test on-- himself. This is worthless pseudo-science, mashed in with anti-mcdonalds propoganda. (Pretty much all his complaints are invalid now-- Walking into one recently found a few ways to eat healthily, given some thought into what I put on my food)

The only thing it does prove is what we all know: If you eat JUST fatty foods, you're going to get fat.

He could have done the same test with ANY fatty foods, especially after months of a vegan diet, and gotten the same result. A significant part of the aftereffects he felt were due to shock-- his body was completely unprepared for anything fatty, and was suited to super-low-fat foods.

The most significant player in how you react to fatty foods is your genes. A real science experiment (NewsScientist did an article on this, but is stingy about letting people read them online- if you want the whole thing, someone on a bodybuilding forum posted it. It is credible, and is word-for-word from the magazine. (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=1316711) ) put 18 people on a 6600-calorie diet (Some people drank whole things of olive oil to make up what they hadn't eaten that day--that's how hard it is to eat that much fat) to see whether or not the movie was factual. Turns out, it wasn't.

...

What was the OP about again?

E:
Oh wow, WAY off.

...Yeah, most fast food joints will try to make more money by replacing <name meat> with cheese and selling it for the same amount.

You can save a lot of money by buying two cheeseburgers (With toppings) instead of a big mac.

Ah yes, one of them. I worked at McDonalds for about a year and a half. Easiest job ever and I had connections everywhere. They literally begged me to stay. Finally I just didn't show up/answer phonecalls/door knocks. Yeah..door knocks. They came to my fucking house.

But yeah, we hated customers who complained and some would trash their food whenever the customer would complain about something that shouldn't of even be complained about.

E. One time a customer's 5 year old son had brought in a feather from off of the sidewalk and placed it onto his mom's burger. She complained and said WE did it. The store manager reviewed the security tapes and proved her otherwise. Great day.

Having a shitload of change that you can't do anything else with (PROTIP: Coinstar counting machine) is one thing, doing that shit on purpose is downright fucked up.

Fucking with the peon-level customers doesn't do anything but make you look like an asshole. You want something done? Write to corporate. Don't take it out on the working-class people who have absolutely nothing to do with the price of the restaurant's food.

I have to say, the first few seconds of the video made you look like a flaming douchebag. "I'm angry with the prices of the burgers, so I'm going to the drive through with six dollars in pennies."

That will prove... what?

Look, I'm talking from the point of view of the person behind the counter. I've done retail for three and a half years. I've seen all sorts of stupid. I love it when people "retaliate" at the company by doing crap to piss off the employees and waste their time, because they think that they're stickin' it to the man and that they're making a difference, when in all actuality, they're just wasting time.

Still, making them count all those pennies isn't that great of a thing to do. Ok, if it's just something like 6$, then it's not so bad, and quite understandable, since it's actually a situation that can actually happen. But for a PS3 game? I think not.
