Well I borrowed my freinds copy of Fallout 3 and It's really fucking awesome except that it crashes like every 30 to 45 minutes and then if I try to start playing again it crashes in like 5 minutes. If I restart the computer I can play for another 45 minutes then it crashes and I have to restart the computer again.
This is extremely frustrating.
I'm going to update my GFX drivers right now and try to play again. I'll tell you guys if it crashes more.
I also have a similar problem with assassins creed.

Did you update to latest patch? What specs?

I know very little about tech hardware wise, but I hear crashes can be caused from GFX card overheating. Is this a very graphics intensive game?

Yes it is... don't worry about it though, we can help.
You are right though about the videocard overheating... that could be a cause. Run nVidia nTune (or whatever equivalent you have if you're ATI/Matrox/whatever) to see your temperatures.
Next thing I would check would be (if the videocard drivers don't fix it) -- look around the forums. Bethesda is know for having... slightly... buggy games. I assume you're patched to 1.1.0.35?

I just learned that auto fan control on nvidia cards doesn't do shit for intense games. So yeah, use something to up the fan speed.

Alright I patched the game and updated my GFX card. I also ran the game in windowed and I've been playing (crash free) for about 3 hours. Also I have the cover off my PC and my GFX card is cool. It has a built in fan so I doubt it will overheat.
Running on High GFX preset. Although I lowered model detail a bit because I was getting bad frame rates when I looked at groups of enemy's.
Anyways I've gone from level 6 to 12 :) sucks that I have school tomorrow. These holidays are just to short...
Thanks for the help. Hopefully the game is stable now.
edit-
BTW is "The Breaker and "The Scoped .44 Magnum" one of a kind items?

It has a built in fan so I doubt it will overheat.Don't count on it to speed up for anything extremely intensive.
