View Full Version : So apparently, children can't play anymore

My dad just came in and told me that there was a person coming in tomorrow from the department of social services because one of our neighbors complained that my little brother (6) was running around our property without adult super-vision. This is probably one of the people that, since a gold plated elementary school was built right next door, sends their children to school and come picks them up, escorting them 30 feet to their house.

Seriously, children aren't idiots, and this neighborhood is your typical green lawn suburbia.

I thought this was a free country.

Yup. Kids can't even play with a stick like we all used to at his age. It's like how tag is "evil" because it encourages victimization, and sports are "mean" because someone has to lose. Fucking white people.

My parents are actually decent..then again, my mom is from asia and my dad's family came from Europe, both, well, more familiar with the culture and style of where they came from (they're both a bit strange though, my mom dresses like it's still the 70's and 80's ffs). Also, when I was five me and a friend would sword fight with sticks when we were bored, lol.

Just curious, where do you all live? Because none of this stuff is happening in Central Florida.

Wow... that blows. I'd personally tell your neighbors to suck a hard one, but ofc they would have to to a consultant about how to do it. Then go to the beauty parlor to have it touched up, get their butler to taste test, and finally say that they are tired and go to bed in their multi-thousand dollar bed.

Up here where we live we shoot each other with nerf guns, whack each other with sticks, and do dumb shit with encouragement from parents. (Northren Wisconsin)

4 years actually. His daddy still cared the first term. Poor Bush. You gotta feel sorry for him. :(

Dude, children can't run around alone without adult supervisors, but they can play M-rated games without adult supervisors? What the fuck?

If everyone keeps babying kids like this, shielding them from every little thing in life that might hurt them, we're gonna have a nation of pussies in a few decades.

Dear diary:
Today, I was playing outside. My really mean neighbor guy got pissed off at me because I picked up a stick on his yard. I then went inside my house and some guys in a white van came by later and took me away!

Dear diary:
Today, there was a kid playing outside on my yard. He picked up the fake stick I use to store my cocaine in. I tried to take it back, but he ran off, so I called child protective services on him. D-D-D-DOUBLE POST

Dear diary:
Today, I was just lying there on the yard, hiding from any suspicious cops, when this kid picked me up and stuck me in his mouth. I was horribly disgusted, because the kid took me inside and started to pick his nose with me, but the guy who snorts my innards called Child Protective services. Thank god! T-T-T-TRIPLE POST (No, I'm not going for Postacular. I don't want an infraction, lol)

Somewhere in the United States is an idiot who is thinking just this.

It's probably the same dumbass who thinks Anonymous blows up yellow vans.

Oh, Jebus, the women came today. She tells us that "allegations of neglect" have been filed against us. So, now she has to tell everybody associated with us. Doctors, therapists, teachers, principles, everybody. What the hell? We are a perfectly normal family and now we have to worry about the stink eye if we pass a person who heard, "Oh, look there's those people again. They're the ones that neglected their son."

What the fuck.

One single accusation from a person they don't know is reliable is causing all of this shit? Wow, that's even worse than divorce for a dude.

No, really, this is stupid. So, so stupid. I'm never having kids if letting him grow unique character is going to get me in all this trouble. If I ever have kids, it will be in another country. (Edit: Admittedly, I'd like to leave the country for reasons other than the moronic government. Room in Austrailia for one more?)

Pfft, let them... if Child Services find nothing wrong, you can sue your neighbours... maybe even let Child Services press criminal charges on them (not sure... not a lawyer).

Live as normal and if your nose is perfectly clean, expect a nice cheque to be award to you in the future care-of the jerks... people will realize "Hmm... maybe he was fine after all".

Before this blows out of proportion. The story is:

My little brother was at his friend's house playing the Wii (about a month ago). So, my father gets worried that he isn't back.

I go everywhere looking for him, I span the entire cul-de-sac looking for him (there is nobody on this Earth that loves him more with the exception of maybe his mother). I go to the Wii neighbors; nock, ring, bang, yell, nothing (they were in the basement, they couldn't hear a damn thing). I asked this neighbor's kids if they seen him, they say no (we are pretty sure they said something).

So, only later, when he came home, we found out that he was in the basement playing with his friends. By then we were ready to call the police. This is what the whole thing is about, not about him just being out of the yard.

Seriously though, I can literally spit out of my window and it will land in this neighbors front lawn.

It is not neglect. It is overreaction.

Okay yeah that's much less defensible than "he was in the front lawn and the neighbours called the cops".

You should be fine though.

Yes, but this was my original theory because we didn't know what the event was based on.

After all that, I feel like an idiot.

The people who are in spitting distance are the people with the Wii.

The crazies are the ones that I was asking, "Have you seen my brother," and are a couple of streets over (they also moved in this year).

It's not just whites. It's everyone. I've seen plenty of hispanics acting this way in fracking HIGH SCHOOL. Jeez, kids can manage getting to the gorram door people.
