Among other large-scale issues on the agenda, Walker says the Spy's disguise has nearly reached the end of its lifetime. Over time, average players have become much better at detecting and dispatching disguised Spies, making the ability pretty useless for all but the sneakiest of players. Additionally, Walker feels the Engineer's sentry guns have become "too binary." They're highly lethal to some players and wholly ineffective against others. Sentry guns are also easily dispatched by skilled players, leaving Engineers with little recourse. Keeping a delicate balance is important, as is adjusting problems that arise from the way players utilize the different abilities of each class in the game.
Better disguises ey? :aaaaa:

Let disguised Spies have randomized weapons, maybe?

I do not get what these people are whining about, a skilled engineer can also handled a skilled player too, same for spy. Just watch and pay attention to how each class acts, and then manipulate it from there. For example, after playing as a lof the classes in your favorite map, a lot of them have just have routes they take, maybe in random order, but they still take them. Knowing these spots and routes can let you act out the class you are disguised as, and can help you find hot spots or tight chokes to ambush lone classes coming along. A small detail for example: In ctf 2fort when an enemy aproaches sewer stairs, they look up the stairs for enemies, doing this as an imitation when disguised as a weaker class with a stronger class behind you, you can see walk up half way and step back, a sif allowing them to go first and head the assault, the simple gesture of looking up means you were wary of the enemies up top, not behind, so they assume you to be a friend.

Or they see you have spy health and shoot you to make sure. Like all players with half a brain do.

You'd be surprised, if you act like the class you are, you can get by fairly easy, just do not hang around large conflict areas as they'll wonder why you do not shoot and they do not shoot you, make decisions quickly, do not hesitate, if you see a pyro coming and quickly do a double take he is going to be suspicious, try to follow the flow of players and slip away at a chance you can get, or kill them, depending on your goal. Take advantage of multiple entrances, cloak and chaos to slip nice and deep behind enemy lines, and always keep moving, never do the stupid sap sap sap over and over when an ally is obund to show up and blow you to bits, find a nice corner, head out to sentry, drop a sapper on it, cloak immediately and peek around corner, you can easily see whether the engie is in the area or not. If he is, leave him alone and move about, find another sentry and try it, its all about patience.

If there's two pyros on the team that aren't stupid (well maybe mildly retarded, but) they'll be spy checking till the cows come home.

You'd be surprised, if you act like the class you are, you can get by fairly easy
Scout: Dead giveaway disguise due to fast unit moving slow.
Soldier: Moves slowly enough to encourage touch-checking. Most soldiers I see are either firing or reloading while near combat zones, something the spy cannot do.
Pyro: While the least suspicious on its own, anyone immediately spychecks an out-of-place pyro.
Heavy: You might as well not use a disguise if you choose a heavy disguise. You can be easily touch checked since you move incredibly slow and are fairly large. Plus, heavies that aren't camping are usually paired with a medic on the front line, and ANYONE who is camping gets spychecked.
Demoman: Second least suspicious.
Engineer: Only not suspicious when around un occupied buildings. Most players tend to spycheck any engie wielding a shotgun, though. Fuck, most morons I play with spycheck all engineers regardless.
Medic: Dead giveaway disguise due to syringe gun and the ubercharge readout not appearing. If the medic disguise set the weapon to the medigun, this one would be more useful.
Sniper: Useful only around sniper vantage points.
Spy: Useful only if there are a number of spies on the enemy team.
The thing is, all of the players in TF2 are paranoid now. Every time I play, I get needlessly spychecked CONSTANTLY no matter what I do (annoys the shit out of me), even if I'm running around with my melee out screaming for a medic with 1 HP left.

While acting "in-character" is pretty important as a spy, there's still a fair bit of player psychology you should be aware of. Remember that first and foremost players are (generally) looking out for number one. They want to have a good time and they want to blow up all the nasty otherteam. They're looking for what affects them now and as a result, they'll pay less attention to other people on "their team" the further away they are. Always uncloak where people aren't looking (even right behind their front line is fine as long as they're all distracted) and keep your cloak as full as possible for emergency escapes.
Spend your first few lives scoping out the other team's base, trying to get as far in as possible. Know where everything is, the line, how fast it's moving, their building locations, their snipers and get a rough idea what classes their using. Knowing where you can hide and where you can blend in as what class is all vital information that a lot of people overlook.
Also, cocks:
Scout: effective if you plan on being at a far distance from people (the slow speed isn't as noticeable and who suspects a scout?)
Soldier: Front lines or just behind, never walk towards their base with this disguise. Try to stand behind the other team and act like you're trying to get a shot off at them but your "team mates" keep getting in your road (especially useful if both teams are spamming each other as nobody notices).
Pyro: One of the best all purpose disguises. Just act like you're constantly looking for something (SPIEZ) and you can actually look more legit (from a distance) if you're walking straight at someone as if you're about to spycheck them.
Demoman: Another good all purpose disguise. Make sure you stick around the back of the team and act like you're waiting for somebody to try and flank you from behind (as though you have a sticky trap). Alternativly, just walk towards the line nobody will pay much attention.
Heavy: SLOW SLOW SLOOW SLOW, SLOW SLOW COME SING WITH ME!! just don't.
Engy: You can actually be fairly convincing if you act like you're moving towards sentrys (walk backwards like you've just been to the front line and you're expecting some company to follow). Also good if you act like you're going to set up a forward engy base.
Medic: Don't. See PB's post.
Sniper: great on sniper balconys, especially if that's where you're going to uncloak after infultrating (from a distance people don't pay any attention weather you're scoped or not.
Spy: LEGENDARY MODE
PS. When spotted, start running, cloak, step out of your pursuer's road (corners ftw) and stab them in the back after they walk past.

I tend on ctf maps or capture maps to play with their minds a bit and grab the intel then drop it then cloak, it usually attract players to the intel, and I just use the less used route with cloak on to get out and do some quick saps on defenses that were left deserted, I also take advantage if lets say on 2fort where the intel is in the sewer, Ill go across bridge and into base and start working.

Everyone is paranoid these days, I can't play spy without having someone shoot multiple rounds at me until they reach walk through distance.
