View Full Version : Open Edges on a Box?

Well, last night I fancied some pottering about with good ol' HEK.
Brandishing my newly found below par modeling skills I decided to see if I could make a basic map.
BAM errors in tool, I was pretty shocked to see errors as I was pretty sure that there was no open edges, so I check and all that, still nothing, decided to delete the two meshs I had. (Leaving a skybox and frame)
12 open edges. The skybox, which is 12 edges, litterally just a box. Nothing else, 12 open edges..WTF?
Only thing I did, was flip the sides, and turn on backface cull in the object's properties.
Tool really isnt favoring me right now, any one have any ideas?

Is the object in editable mesh and not anything else?

Eh, when you export it? Well, not quite....Poly :(
Edit:
Well dont I feel like a fool. I completely forgot to convert it to a mesh. I havent touched HEK for like 2 - 3 years, but still :O
Shame I deleted the map mesh and forgot to save as. Oh well :)
Thanks alot advancebo :D, problem solved.
I'll leave it unlocked so anyone can post here to laugh at my expense :D

Originally it was a fully developed lustrous environment, in other words a flipped box with a few walkways.
That didnt work so I tried the simplest thing to see if that would work (a box) and it didnt :)
Because the model hadnt been converted to a mesh. Which I should have realised considering all engines cant use raw polys, they have to use 3 sided polys aka triangles :)

If you are using blue streak to export the JMS is must be in editable mesh otherwise you will get geometry errors. This doesn't occur with blitzkrieg.

Yea i was wondering why people always say "remember to convert to mesh". Its never made a difference to me, now i know why. :)
