Ok, I don't know if this is due to some sort of virus or what not, but look at some of these ads that I get when looking at my hotmail account:

THESE PHOTOS MAY BE NSFW. VIEW WITH CAUTION!

This one came from inside the Windows Live Messenger program:

Is this a virus? Did Hotmail/MSN/Windows Live get hacked? Anything I can do to prevent these ads from appearing on my end?

I consider any ads on my mail a major issue*, but in your case, I wouldn't know. I wouldn't think that MS would do that, so it's probably something to look into.

* I run my own mail server and webmail, so no ads here.

\/ It's also illegal in most places, given the circumstances.

Perhaps it's based on your given age/location?

#1 is totally doubleclicking her mouse.

Wouldn't know though -- my two commonly used email addresses are from the University, and my own.

Ive had a case before in which those ads poped up without having Internet explorer on. I Dont know what your case is.

Adware or Spyware? It's giving you ads based on what you have searched for on your internet in the past. *gasp* lol

Well, I'm doing a virus scan know, so I'll see if that finds anything. If not, I'll run a HijackThis scan and see what it comes up with.

E: Here's the HijackThis Log. I skimmed through it but couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. Maybe one of you guys can?

I did the opposite, saw the tits then noticed it looked like a guy.

Your right with both, if your going to advertise something using sex, least make it attractive sex.

OK, I checked my HOSTS file and there was a whole bunch of random ad shites and shit in it. Luckily, I had made a backup of the original hosts file and replaced the one with a whole bunch of random ad sites with the clean one. Now, that fixed my Hotmail problem, but I'm still getting the "Sex Ad" in Windows Live Messenger. Anything I can do to fix that?

Also, doing a Spybot scan atm.

Yeah thats spyware, not a virus. Spybot might fix that, I recommend Malwarebytes anti-malware and spyblaster (prevention) also.

Well, so far, Spybot has found 2 trojans and over 100 PUP. My McAfee scan found nothing. Just goes to show you how much McAfee really sucks, I guess.

Also, wouldn't that message be considered adware, not spyware?

Malware ingeneral yeah :) Then again the ads might just be a front, it might also be logging your activities.

Ok, I think I'm good now. Got rid of (I hope) 2 trojans and ~50 different types of spyware/malware garbage. I'll keep this thread open in case anything happens again.

Yeah you'll never be sure of that... ever... unless you backup your data, format your harddrive, and reinstall Windows.
