So yeah, I remember Limited's award for me: Most travelled. I don't know if it's valid but yeah travelling and experiencing other cultures is fun and informative. Plan accordingly, and it's even fairly affordable. I still got a lot of ground to cover in North America, and then there's Europe.

Anyway guys, this thread is about posting your dream vacation destinations (or describing unique places you've been to). If there's some interesting city you've been itching to visit one day, post it here.

Rules: If you don't like the country that another user has posted as a dream travel destination, keep it to PMs and -reps and so on. Yeah person A might say "I wanna visit city Y in country X," person B may not like country X but person B should keep his opinion out of the thread.

So to start off, in no particular order:

London, United Kingdom:

I'm quite interested in the UK because all the countries I've lived in (yes even Shanghai, China) have had some significant British roots. The British owned Singapore and Canada for a long time, they had an international settlement in Shanghai full of businessmen, and they owned the east side of America for some time too. London's got some great landmarks like the London Eye wheel, the parliament house, Big Ben, etc, and it's also the setting for a lot of spy movies. Cool stuff.

Dubai, UAE:

The jewel of the Middle East, Dubai's a very advanced and dynamic city, and the opening of places like DubaiLand, Mall of Arabia, and so on is very inviting. Heck, Dubai has a lot of "biggest ___ in the world," such as the Burj Dubai skyscraper, the Ski Dubai indoor resort, the Burj Al-Arab hotel, and so on. The Palm Islands, which are reclaimed islands shaped like palm fronds, are a sight to behold. The UAE has been pushing tourism as a means of cutting down the economy's dependence on limited oil, and I think they're still doing pretty well.

Las Vegas finally has competition. I don't gamble and I don't plan to, but the Vegas strip has some of the world's coolest hotels, and now I get to see more of such hotels in Asia.

Orlando, FL, USA:

Disney World, sea World, Universal Studios, etc. I've seen L.A.'s versions before but I hear Orlando's versions are ownage too. I've only been to the east side of America once, never saw much. And there's de facto summer to enjoy.

Yes, that's BMW headquarters and the BMW museum you see there. I love German cars, and I wanna go to the BMW museum one day. Munich's also got some interesting historical sites to see, much like the rest of Europe. I hear Bavaria even makes some interesting types of meaty dishes.

Unique architecture (especially their subway station, which is almost like a museum), very grand official buildings, and some particularly interesting history makes this place a must-go. My grandfather went to Moscow once as part of a tour group, told me it was beautiful.

But anyway, asides from that tower alone (omfg), I'd love to get a job in the UK once I graduate uni (I'm thinking of doing nuke-med and if you're uni-qualified, you can find work pretty much anywhere ~supross). It's just a day trip to any number or european citys. :awesome:

lol yeah, I heard that with those underwater tunnels it's pretty easy for Britons to get to mainland Europe. The European Union has it good! One thing I've heard about most of western Europe is that it's one place where you can get by fine without a car due to awesome train systems (just like in Japan), whereas in Silicon Valley, CA you really can't do much without a car. I want to visit Europe so bad.

As for vacations in USA, there are too many cool places there to name. I nominate southern California first.

It's one of the safest cities in the world. And it's got some great Roman history in it, from abandoned amphitheaters to mere stone carvings in the cliff faces.

Born Edmonton, AB, Canada. Travelled across the country numerous times. First plane trip was when I was a few months old, to visit my nanna over here. While I was growing up we visited the northern US a few times, but I was too young to remember. Moved to the UK when I was 4, first Haslingden, then Twyford, then finally Caversham during which time I visited most of northern France, Belgium, Holland, the western end of Germany, Scotland, Wales, and of course up and down England (e: multiple times each, we went across the Channel nearly every other weekend). I also flew over to visit family both out here and in Canada constantly, stopping off at Frankfurt, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Manila, LA, Honolulu, etc. in the process. Since moving here I've been back to Canada twice and we also went to New Caledonia; in the not-too-distant future we're headed back across Canada and right through Europe (hopefully I'll be able to visit places I haven't been yet, Ireland for one as we have friends over there now).

I've been to something like 9 schools and lived in 8 houses. I've got around a fair bit for someone pushing 20, most of my mates the same age as me or even a few years older have never been out of the country and a few haven't even been interstate.

Been to Ireland, England, Germany, Austria, Italy and Portugal. Nothing really satisfied me though. It's like in the wake of globalization, local cultures have been degraded to mere fancy,whored out additions to the grey, omnipresent pulp of "western" culture. Interchangable architecture, interchangable clubs, interchangable sights, interchangable people. Ugh.
I'm thinking of finding me a rather authentic piece of nature somewhere in the alps this summer and just stay there for about two weeks, hiking, camping, possibly some smalltime poaching and fishing with skills i got from a survival course and generally try and get in touch with nature.

This is why you visit the country, and only go to the major cities to see the important bits. Cities here are a hodge-podge of everything, but the country is exactly the same as it was two centuries ago, more or less.

e/ That said, I grew up around cities like Edmonton and London, so I feel a connection to them no matter how generic they might seem to be. If you know where to look, you'll still find the true culture of the place.

- Las Vegas

Chinese cities covered are:
- Shanghai (lived there)
- Hong Kong
- Guangzhou
- Shenzhen
- Beijing

Singapore (born there) is just ONE CITY-STATE, not much to see there. There are a lot of British and Aussie tourists there though due to its position on the Kangaroo Route. My English teacher for 2 years there was half-Caucasian(Australian) and half Indian, she spoke with the distinguishable Aussie accent.

Holy crap, just like me, that's the same reason why I lived in 4 different countries. This time, though, I'm moving because of university (returning during breaks) while my parents stay back in Vancouver.
