Well yeah, for around 4 months on and off I've been toying around with 3ds max getting the basics learned and creating random junk. And now I want to do my first modeling project so I was wondering what is a good thing to start modeling for a beginner. I was told to get car pictures from various different reference points and just start modeling that but then I thought there has got to be an easier approach. So I am asking what should I start off with?

Alright I'll start on a car then.

Now I just started going through the HEK tutorial and I am stuck, I'm using Max 8 and I need to link the edited box mesh to a Reference frame but when I try it doesn't work.

It's supposed to look like this: http://i42.tinypic.com/1zf52t5.gif

but when I click on that the frame thing isn't there what am I doing wrong?

Select everything and press the Unlink Selection tool, then try it again.

Hey, when you're done with the cars that you're modelling, post some pics. I want to include them in a map that i'm making if you don't mind.
