For my Terminal model, I want to make grass on the ground geometry, but can't figure out how to. I was messing around the the hair and fur modifier but was unsuccessful. Does anyone know a good way to make 3d grass?

Hes a render of part of the ground...

Make a grass texture and put it on a plane.

planes uvmapped with same grass texture alpha'd and then you repeat it an intersect it all over the map, in diagonal and spiral shapes in amongst itself.

Like that. From first person view on the ground they appear to be more abundant then they are.

Depending on the engine, you should also see if you can have the game handle it and have the grass appear as detail objects (Blam) or props (Source).

I've used splines and multiplied them across my plane then assigned them a loft shape of a blade of grass. I then exported the grass seperate, making sure i set it to x=0 y=0 z=0, then turned it into scenery with no collision. Then placed it in map coords at same as one big piece of scenery.

Don't know what exactly your application is for, but that worked for me in a map i needed roots coming through stuff and some grass and other plants i put about.

its not for a game, its for rendering purposes only.
