An "online military fps," yet I see nothing that would be considered military tactics in that video.

Seriously, running and gunning in the open?

As said, just another Counter-Shit clone.

I'm pretty sure a few of the models are ripped from COD4, and that's just from watching the trailer.

I like how the knife is a 1-hit kill from any direction, and that it takes like 20 body shots (if that? I only saw headshots kill in the video) to kill someone otherwise. Also the 1sk revolver.

I'm sticking to TF2, not the least so I can get those scout achievements :argh:

Counter-Strike: Source is fun if you don't suck. That game is more reminiscent of Warrock and Combat Arms, both an extreme waste of your life just like Runescape.

because naturally the only reason anyone would dislike the most generic shooter on the face of the planet is because they don't have a list of exploits taped to the insides of their eyelids and they aren't permanently twitcy, causing them to suck at the game

surely it's not because they actually have standards and decided they'd had enough of the same game with marginal improvements in some utterly pointless aspect every time a new one came out?

If I wanted to play 3sk deathmatch with no respawns, I'd find a more interesting looking game. Not this pseudo-realistic garbage.

Any game where I physically have to point out to people that there are non-KILLKILLKILL objectives is not a game or community I want to associate with (atleast not the proper version, I don't mind some of the silly game-modes).

E: try putting some effort into your trolling CN.

CS is no longer fun when played with strangers online due to all the "communication." But when played on LAN with friends (e.g. off my USB, csv1.5 at school :P) it is a lot better than you may think.

Combat Arms is for little kids who share computers with their parents and aren't allowed to buy their own FPS games yet. Initially, when I tried it out, I was impressed by its performance and visuals (for a free game) and I thought it was a "poor man's COD4" (by poor man I mean not having a good PC), but as I continued playing I picked up all its flaws, then deleted the damn thing. Not bad effort, but RTCW:ET and Fear Combat are much better free shooters.

I'll check out Crossfire this summer, perhaps, although I doubt it'll stay installed for long. It'll probably be too generic to be worth keeping.

Counter-Strike Source is a good game, seriouspost

it's just not as good as TF2 (or at least it wasn't before Valve broke TF2 with the scout patch) http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c251/CN3089/Emoticons/emot-argh.gif

CS is alright with friends I guess but by now it's not like CS is innovative or new in the slightest, quite the opposite. It's become the definition of a generic twitch shooter, which I guess is because a lot of games want desperately to be CS, but all the same its charm wore off a long time ago as far as I care. I was never overly fussed on it to begin with, but I don't like it much at all now partly because of the generic thing and partly because of the community.

The only thing I can't stand in CS:S is the kids that get thier first mics and start screaming into the fucking headset, and I mute my volume, but for some reason, it still plays, very very low.. :iiam:

you just have to find a server that isn't full of assholes and shit talkers.

ive been playing on the same server since i started playing the game, and the community (in this server) is awesome and the people very friendly and funny.

it greatly increases the "fun factor"

Yeah, I suck at it. Hence why I don't play it. The userbase is what keeps me away; every yutz I come across is usually busy jerking it over his server rank and now many headshots he can pop. God forbid you admit that you're new or that you don't know how to abuse every glitch, because then you're a horrible person and should probably go kill yourself.

I stopped playing Halo 2 for the same reason: people are too obsessed with winning. It drives me nuts when someone feels the need to pull off cheap tricks, be them glitches or unintended shortcuts, to gain an upper hand.

Yeah, there are mods for it to make it fun, but when you slap a mod onto a game, it's not that game anymore. The zombie mod was fun, for example, but if I wanted to play a zombie game, I'd download ZPS.

read my post above...

i started on the server new, didn't know shit about CS, and they never hassled me or talked shit because i was bad.

Probably because it's scrub gungame.

This "Crossfire" looks like a joke though. Only a CS clone in looks. :/

I think the whole point of the CS clones is so little kids can get into the game easier(albeit, there are many in CS as-is.) They're meant to be easy to start up into and play decently from the beginning no matter the skill level, although that usually equates to the fighting games where someone could bash their skull against the controller and win against someone who's actually trying. Warrock was nice when it came out, generally decent in-game community, took some decent skill to do well, but got nerfed with the updates. Combat arms on the other hand, started out being marketed to the little maple story kids, and was nerfed from the beginning, no skill needed whatsoever, click button someone dies on the other side of the map.
So far, crossfire is more like the early Warrock. So far that I've seen, things are waay over priced. You don't get enough money from even winning to remotely think of buying anything without playing for days non-stop, along with the fact aside from maybe a couple weapons, you have to level up a lot just to use. Not enough experience is given either, maybe 10-20 most even when winning and having the highest score, when the next rank is around 500 away. As far as I've seen so far, the in-game community hasn't been tainted by little kids screaming "FUK U U HAKKER" among other things yet, and its not a lot of pray-and spray. Still meant for little kids to get into easier, but not bad so far.

tl;dr : not bad, less maple story idiots, more earlier non-nerfed warrock

CS:S was a great game, I havent played it in years though.

To me this game looks like a mod of CS, where they have done fuck all but add "350~ customizations!" even though in the video they all looked identical. A very poor mod of CS.

Therefore it being a standalone, not a mod is ridiculous, it has CS written all over it, majority of guns are same ones from CS lol..

In this day in age, where consumers want new revolutionary games, these idiots make a CS clone.

All I can assume/hope is this is just game that tests there abilities and isnt a full blown game.

I played it for the first 5 mins, and it alright. There is a better ranking system and character customization for it though. BUT, almost all the weapons LOOK EXACTLY LIKE CS:S. tbh, all I think they did was get the rights for the models, and slapped it into a game with a new engine, "if" they even got the rights to it. :iiam:

I play combat arms every once in a while, and tbh that's exactly why I play it. I dont have a very good computer, or much money, so I just play the free version of COD4 with worse graphics. I think its better than warhawk and this game, but your right it does have its flaws. Its still fun when you get in a good server with fun people though.

But this game just doesnt look very good at all, they didn't even try to make it not look like CS, at least Combat arms looks decent.

Combat Arms is nothing like COD4.

Combat Arms is nothing like COD4.

Agreed, but that was my initial thought because of the way you can customize guns with scopes and silencers and whatnots just like in COD4...but yeah after playing a bit more I realized the similarity to COD4 was smaller than I thought.

The GP thing was just stupid imo (I bet this'll become a scapegoat for any dumb kids wasting their lives on Combat Arms and neglecting hmwk etc), and I don't know if it's just me but I couldn't find a way to host it on a LAN (without any sort of online connection).

still Corndogman has a point, Combat Arms can resemble COD4 somewhat in the eyes of other users.

imo the only good free shooters are those that used to be retail games or those that are derived from retail games, e.g. Enemy Territory was fantastic and you didn't need RTCW to play it, and I still play it on my netbook. Much more optimized and balanced than the newer Crossfire or Combat Arms.
