..And it is so awesome! Phenom II X3 720, with 2x2gb sticks of Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR3 1333 with super tight timings of 6-6-6-20! Oh yeah also a Radeon HD 4830 and my Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P AM3 mobo!

Overclocked my 720 to 3.6ghz and my 4830 to 675 core and 1950 memory! The temps on my 720 with my Arctic Freezer 64 Pro are around 30C idle and around 44C load! That's pretty good imo.

This is a great config for gamers on a budget! Bought all the stuff above for $450 including tax and shipping. I live in California, and I ordered the cpu, mem, and video card from newegg, but I got my mobo from NCIX! I got it for $15 less than newegg.

Pics after the line.
--------------------------------------
Totally 100% stable so far! No crashes whatsoever!

Oh yeah the voltage on overdrive is wrong! Look at the cpu-z voltage, that's right.

Holy smokes, that is a sweet rig. I'm going by laptop atm so I won't be doing any PC upgrading for now.

6-6-6-20 isn't super tight.

Other than that, it's pretty sweet rig! Post some pictures of the upgrades!

I'm tired and want to sleep nao. But one thing I want to tell ya, is those crucial ballistix tracers are so beautiful! They have different color leds on top, and they keep flashing depending on how the memory is used! It is truly a sight to see!

I'll post pics tomorrow! :D

Yea those tracers are a really neat little piece of hardware. Especially if you're into the "LAN Party" style computer cases (windows, lights, and other "bling").

Very cool, definitely some nice modules you got there. Aren't those DIMM's rated for 4-4-4-12 though? Why are you running them at 6-6-6-20 (which is slower iirc).

Abdurahman
March 13th, 2009, 09:34 PM
They are rated for 6-6-6-20. They are DDR3-1333 remember? The lowest you can go with "safe voltages" with DDR3 is cas 6 so yeah, they are very low.

Oh fuck my bad! I was looking at the DDR2-800 variation specs, lmao...

Nice results man. I just want to know how it will perform in Crysis and other modern games.

P.S. I helped him with that rig.

Yeah Warsaw helped me. With that proc and a 4830 overclocked to 700/1990 I can play Crysis in DX10 Mode with all settings high and objects, water, and textures on very high, and it plays ultra smooth! I played the demo yesterday, and i was like O_O The graphics were so great yet the framerate was perfectly playable! no slowdowns whatsoever! This is a great budget gaming rig guys!

E: I played crysis at 1440x900!

Try the later levels in crysis, they are a lot more demanding, especially the ice levels.

I don't have the game yet so...

But I tried DX9 mode with all high, and the game was even smoother! I'm so going to buy Crysis!

Sorry for the double post but UPDATE:

I bought crysis, and so far I have gotten to the aircraft carrier level. It was immensely fun, and I played it on high, and the game was smooth! Then I installed this config mod that makes my game look like very high except the fps was better than I had it on high! Also the snow level did not impact my performance at all. I then tried 1280x800 instead of 1440x900 and the game was sooooooooooo smooth, and it didn't look at all different, with the different resolutons and all. The 4830 is a great gaming card!

Haha, just as you said the 4830 was a great gaming card, they're discontinuing the card for the 4750 which is faster and cheaper.

He knows. At least he will be able to snag another 4830 for dirt cheap to run Crossfire.

Sorry for the double post again, but
ANOTHER UPDATE!

I just realized my video card was never overclocked, and has been running at stock for this whole time under Catalyst 9.2. Gonna try Catalyst 9.1, and If this works, I will get quite a few more frames in Crysis and over 12,000 points in 3DMARK06. Wish me luck!

Bam!

I've been looking at a 4830 on Newegg.ca as my next upgrade. I'm glad to hear that you're having a heck of a good time with one, looks like I'll be ordering one up soon. Also... jealous of your *bling* RAM ;)

EDIT at below: My financial situation basically requires me to hold off for awhile, so thanks for the info.

If I were you, I'd hold out for just a little longer for an HD4750, which should be out very very soon, judging by all the price drops.
