I'd post pics of Crysis, but my camera's fuxed and won't take pics of anything brighter than the site's default skin.

Awesome anyway.

Also note that this is the only time you'll ever see any part of me. :tinfoil:

Whoa

So what model projector are you using???

Sounds fun for games, but I couldn't imagine trying to read anything on there. I once hooked up my pc to my 60 in plasma, couldn't read anything from the sofa without turning it down to a low resolution.

There is a very empty wall in my room that is sooooo asking for it.

I have better resolution and probably contrast than you :saddowns:

My uncle got a projector like this for his game room, pretty badass hooking the PC and playing his PS3 on it.

Meh, I prefer monitors over projectors when it comes to computers because the picture quality is superior.

Heh, reminds me of how I used HDMI-out on my laptop to play HL2 at 1920x1080 on my 55" tv. Awesome stuff, although I had to stack a few boxes to create a "table" comfortably high enough at my couch.

March 16th, 2009, 07:34 AM
I never was a fan of ridicu-huge displays. My mate's 22" is nice, but something as big as you have doesn't look all that flash, I reckon. I'm not fussed on projectors anyway.

Ifafudafi
March 16th, 2009, 11:27 AM
Actually, it's pretty easy to read shit here; the resolution is streched so far across the wall that everything's still large enough despite the massive resolution. It's daytime now, so I'm stuck on my monitor, but it was fun.

Can't say the same for my HDTV, though.

...

You know, I should try putting 2 projectors side-by-side at that resolution. That should (in theory) eliminate the problem with monitor edges.

InnerGoat
March 16th, 2009, 11:29 AM
Yes dual projectors works very well do it do it

rossmum
March 16th, 2009, 11:30 AM
What, lack of peripheral vision?

I've always wanted to axe that, though when push comes to shove I still prefer a monitor at a sensible res and about a foot's distance since you generally focus on the centre of the screen anyway.

Ifafudafi
March 16th, 2009, 12:14 PM
When you put two monitors together, there are edges preventing the transition from being completely seamless. With projectors, that wouldn't be a problem.

And peripheral vision would be so awesome. Now I just need to track down another projector and a wall big enough to put two on...

Cortexian
March 16th, 2009, 12:49 PM
Even better... Three projectors and Crysis.

Fuck 2 or three projectors. Get enough to have a full 360 view in a completely empty room, get a game with an adjustable fov, and post results! Make sure you have an swivel chair desk.

Boo Diddly
March 16th, 2009, 04:10 PM
Damn, would be awsome for games. For dual projectors you would have one hell of a time to line them up tho.

Eh, I'm still happy with my dual 24" wide screens.

Fuck that,

wait great idea dragon.

I was thinking of doing this, but I lack one thing, a projector.

Turn on the lights in your room, but dim them if you can, then take pictures, or lower the exposure maybe?

I've worn glasses all my life, swampboy. My eyes have been steady since before I started regularly using a PC, so I'd say that has sweet bugger all to do with it. The reason I sit so close is so I can make out the tiny one-pixel dots which can be the difference between life or death in Il-2 or RO, and my glasses are a) trifocal and b) perpetually filthy. I look over them to make out details, same as I usually take them off to read.

Get MS Flight simulator or any game supporting multiple displays, and run it on this setup (hook up all other display devices too).

Hmm, moar pictures of dual projectors :O (if you do it)

Also, great for watching movies, but reading text would be a nightmare.

I got the monitor for free ^.^

I suspect, pixel for pixel, it isn't actually a 2048x1536 resolution.

Either way, I'm jealous

Though it's cool, I'd never use a projector. I needs my color calibrated screen for ma photos, mang.

I think I'm going to get a Pico projector... yay 10" of bright projection and 10' of "what is that? is the wall slightly glowing?". $350. Totally worth it.

Hey, I'm happy with my 22" monitor, and if I'm unhappy about the size I have, I can just go plug into the HDTV in the basement.

I must admit, that is a nice setup you got there though.

It's not, but you do get an AA-like effect doing so. That's how I played Halo Pc and CE for so many years running at 2304x1440 :iamafag:

You can also do that with projectors as long as they're ceiling mounted.

Or projected through a rear-projection screen.

It's the way my school is able to afford a 15' (yes, foot) screen.

At 640x480 resolution :downs:

yeah, but then they've gotta be like 5 foot from the wall, and keystoned to the max.

Wow. My old school had two projectors for dances/assemblies/rallies/etc and they were both rear projection 1280x1024 setups... It was sweet to have "video dances" where the DJ's would hook up and play tunes with either the tune music video or a visualization playing.
