I swear my FPS doubled. Changed from 2x AA to 8x had no effect either, lol.

I wish my AA worked properly.
Either it blurs everything, or I bump up the sample type to "edge-detect", making a 4x sample into a 24x sample :v:

well this makes no sense, my framerate dropped with multicore rendering.
I wonder if it has to do with my using vista x64?

16x AF and 4x AA at 1920x1200 because any less than that looks like shit to me :<
Also the DDR2 667 RAM probably doesn't help

I've noticed that oddly enough, TF2 is running ALOT slower than it was about 2 weeks ago, Before I could run it at 1600x1200 8xmsaa all settings maxed with 60+fps
Now tf2 wont even let me run it at that, and at 1280x1024 I get about 40+fps
What the hell happened?

Quotes related; I found out what the problem was.
Edge-detect AA, and in fact anything besides box AA, kills performance with steam games. Also, with the exception of edge-detect, choosing anything besides box AA makes the entire screen blurry, not just edges.
In short: Box AA solves both problems.

Okay, thanks, but how can I set it so that it uses box AA, but specified by the program itself, It only lets me chose it for all games, or not at all :S

Set it to "use application settings"-- the drop-down for AA type still chooses which type of AA is used.
