I assume if they can get a protest permit we can too. That's actually the one thing that makes me thing they might not show up - there isn't much room to stage a protest at the school. There's a sidewalk across the street, but it's lined by houses and on the school's side of the street, the school's property extends so far that if they got off of it they wouldn't even be noticed.

They don't need that much space to march in. They are probably going to do something in the parking lot of your school, or somewhere else where they can be seen.

Just be careful (if you do counter-protest) that you don't miss them, otherwise staging a counter-protest will be a partial waste.

Doesn't this kind of thing count as criminal harassment? If you tell them to GTFO the first time, and they persist in their actions, then the cops can be called in to force them to go away.

At my school, any uninvited guests without visitor passes are immediately told to leave (unless it's a parent emergency kind of thing), and if they refuse the principal has every right to call 911 (and it has happened, some gangsta-looking guy refused to leave once and the police had to drag him out). Another time some religious group handing out free Bibles tried to enter the school and they were immediately ordered to leave, they complied of course but if they'd resisted the police would've come to shove them out. Sure there's nothing wrong with handing out free Bibles but that group came in unauthorized, they didn't get approval from the school beforehand, hence they were obliged to GTFO.

I've seen a lot of suggestions for counter-protests, but to me this just looks like something the police are obliged to handle. Start off by saying "get away from this school or we call the cops," if they don't get the message then dial 911 right in front of them and sit back and enjoy the show. If they have any ounce of sense though, they may back off before the cops come. If they appear menacing in any way, call the cops without warning.

And if they choose not to actually go onto the school grounds but rather block up the road in front of the school, that's also grounds for police action as they're unlawfully obstructing traffic.

Situation update : We got a letter from the school administration today. Basically they confirmed that this is legitimate. They specifically pointed out how they don't show up for most of their protests (as I've mentioned before), but said that there will be police to keep them off of school grounds that day should they actually come. That seriously limits the space that the WBC can use to protest, since as I said earlier the closest off-school land you could use is a small section of sidewalk in front of some houses.

Pretty much the whole school is talking about this - assuming their attention span is long enough to last a month, there would be a pretty massive turnout for a counter-protest. Of course, the school administration might not want us to get involved at all... which would be a pretty big downer (if admittedly understandable).

This past spring I was expelled from my high school. Why? Because I'm a Christian. There was a girl in my class who was wiccan, and I didn't want demons to possess me or anyone else and save her from satan. So, I told her that her faith was evil and told her to accept Jesus as Savior and she would be saved. Simple as that. Just say the sinners prayer and you can be saved!

Well I got sent to the principal for that. She said I was 'discriminating' against her religion. I was only doing what the Bible, God, Jesus and my pastor said! How is that wrong!?

Well, afterwards I was forced to aplologize, even though it's a sin to, so I never meant what I said. So, instead I put a copy of a Jack Chick tract in her locker about how wicca and a paganism lead to murder, rape and other horrible things because it lets the devil get inside of you. I also left a little note about how she was going to hell. I was hoping she would see the error of her ways and repent from the evil, disgusting 'religion'.

Instead I was called down to the principal again and this time there were two police officers there. And they said I was under arrest for harrasing this girl and threatening her! What did I do? I just wanted her to accept Jesus and be saved! Now her family (all evil, stupid, disgusting god hating wiccans) want to sue me for discrimination and creating a hostile workplace! How is that fair? She's the one who's discriminating against me because I'm one with the LORD!

Jesus is the only way to salvation! It's that simple people! No pope, wicca, or anything stupid like that! JESUS ONLY! Why is is wrong to tell others that? It's all the fault of the ACLU and simlar atheist organizations trying to destroy us Christians. Next they'll want to genocide us for doing our Godly work.
