Name : UT2D-Ravens_Nest

Version : Under Going Work

Compatibility : Ut3 Patch 2.0 + Titan Pack + UT2D 2.0

Comments :For those familiar with Armored Core , a game that has had a good life time , spanning about as many games as Final Fantasy on the Playstation , Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 , this is for you.

For those who dont know of Armored Core , its a famous and popular Japanese 3rd Person Mech Shooter that was also one of the first titles to hit the original Playstation back when it was released.

I have been looking foward to doing work in UT3 for a while , and this is my first project in UE3 , i hope to make something that tops all my other work so far , the Armored Core (Robot) shown in the picture is the main static mesh for a high detail UT2D level i aim to create which will take place in a hanger style level with lots of action going on in the background to keep your attention instead of just still static meshes.
Obviously i`ll post more progress as its made..

Aims/Goals/Outcome :To get a really nice , high poly level in UT3 that works great , looks great and plays well overall.

Random question: does ut3 not support AA or something? I never see screenshots with it.

Not in the in-editor game, which is what his screenshots are from.

Random question: does ut3 not support AA or something? I never see screenshots with it.No DX9 HDR game supports Antialiasing...

That said you can force it in drivers which will do its best attempt... as long as you're not blending layers with too different of an intensity it works pretty much perfectly though.

Example from Bioshock --

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v342/Phopojijo/bioshockaa.jpg

Red markings are where AA tries and fails... Blue markings are where AA tries and succeeds... as stated notice that it fails when something dim blends with something bright...

Basically the AA algorythm doesn't know the actual colour-range of the layers it's blending and blends it like an SDR image... since HDR is logarythmic not linear -- that leads to issues.

Now I heard something about UT3 having been inserted a DX10 render path -- but I haven't seen it on any release notes... so I can't tell you anything about the CURRENT state of UnrealEngine3. ... Just that if you force AA in your drivers, it'll look pretty close to what it should, but not perfect as of the last time I checked.
