PS3 or Xbox 360 (Don't include online play)

Well I have to decide either to get a ps3 or xbox 360 tomorrow. I don't have high speed internet so don't include online multiplayer. I've had a 360 before but it soon died and i had problems before then with the ring of death. The ps3 seemed quite cool, but i don't know much about it besides the fact that you have to download the games from the disk to the console. Right now all i have is a modded xbox with halo 2 and halo 1. Anyways I've enjoyed games such as Gears and Halo 3 for the Xbox 360. The Ps3 caught my attention with the Resistance games and Killzone which seemed quite interesting. So now i'm stuck and i can't decide, which is why i need the people of modacity to help me decide.

Tbh, the PS3 is a great Blu-Ray player, and if you don't already have one there's definitely this option. Of course, there are alot cheaper Blu-Ray players out there but, obviously, the PS3 is also good for having some top-notch quality games because of the Blu-ray compatibility, for example Killzone 2, Resistance 2, etc. On the negative side, there are a sparce amount of actual good titles exclusively to the PS3. Almost any game out there you can for the PS3, you can get on the 360, and then some.

I'd go for an Xbox 360 though if I were you, just for the abundence of games and great exculsive titles. But if media is your thing, and your in need of a Blu-Ray player, you could consider getting a PS3. Who knows, their may be some actually decent games for the PS3 somewhere down the line and it could be a good investment in the long-run.

I too had a problem deciding between the PS3 and the 360, so I got both.

Send your 360 in with the warranty and buy yourself a PS3 so that you too can have both.

Both have some decent FPS Games. MS has a bit more variety imo, but tbh I don't own a PS3 and have only played the PS3 at my school's lanparties.

Ugh, trust me, you'll hate the PS3 controller the minute you pick it up. The joysticks just feel so loose and crappy, and the R2 and L2 buttons are really springy and are awkward to press down without your finger slipping off them.

Well good news guys i might be able to get my 360 fixed with this tutorial my friend m6deep sent me that works 90 percent of the time. If this works then i mine as well just get more 360 games. Otherwise if it does not then i might have to think about a ps3 although now I'm having 2nd thoughts. I really appreciate all of your opinions btw.

Don't. If your warranty is still in effect you can send it in as many times as you need to. By all means do not get a PS3.

Mac maybe? lol. Well i can tell you my warranty is not valid anymore because of certain reasons, but i did the towel trick or whatever and got it to work again but probably only for tonight since it's a temp fix. Anyways I'm going to try the trick and believe me I'm a pro with messing with motherboards since I've dealt with mod chips back in the old H2X days(not that you need to be pro to do this trick). Anyways I think i might just get another gaming electronic that's cheaper then a ps3, and just get xbox 360 games for my B-day which is monday...not that anyone should care. But please still keep voting i might run into a problem sometime tomorrow and might need the results to make up my mind. Btw, I'm fine with one thing Heathen since i use most of the time out of the house.

If you have a Windows Media Center PC or plan to get one (XP MC Edition or Vista Home Premium or better), get a 360 for the media center extender + games. If you don't, get a PS3 for the Blu-Ray + gaming.

Most titles are cross-platform now, so the game library isn't a huge issue.

PS3 has a better variety of good exclusives, both have annoyingly generic FPS games, 360 has more JRPGs (although ToV is getting ported to PS3 now).
I honestly regret buying a 360, PS3 has a much better line-up of games, and free online.

buying a high end PC doesn't mean you're rich. It just shows where your spending priorities lie.

as for the console, it depends on whether you're more interested in MGS/Resistance or in Halo and Gears...both are great systems (the PS3 has free online too, too bad you don't plan to use it), the 360 has more games, yes, but the PS3's library also has superb exclusives.

The reliability question is also old stuff...as long as your 360 is made after summer 2008 it should have the Jasper motherboards with 65nm GPUs, which means much lower chance of RROD this time. Until now the PS3 was by all means the more reliable console, but with the new 360 mobos it may now be a draw.

PS3, I have never owned one, but it has some good cons like linux and a great media player. In all honestly the exclusive game collection is good too, having Grand Tourismo and MGS4, but besides that almost any other non first party title that is exclusive to the console is complete crap.

Look at the 360, it has the greatest variety of games of any of the consoles, amazing first party titles and very good 3rd party titles. Also a scary fact is that developers are running away from the ps3 in a sense since, its expensive to develop on, it has a low market, and the number of games each buyer buys on it is low. Look at the 360 its an average of 9 games I believe I saw.
