So yeah, I just fixed an RROD Xbox 360 that I bought off ebay that came in earlier today, ^^;
$23 for the broken console, 7$ for repair parts, for a total of $30 for the whole 360 and repairs :)
I think I should stress test it though, I've got a few graphically intense games, give me a suggestion on what games should be tested with.
Thanks.

Test Far Cry 2.
Oh and any of the GRAW games should give your box of joy some decent sweat-streams.

I've got to go borrow that from my friend, I wonder if there are any modded saves with 100+ molotovs so I can burn up a giant area to see if it dies.

How'd you fix it? I've never heard of a fix (besides that towl thing D: ) for a RROD.

First I did the x-clamp fix, then I had to have it heat up and resolder some cold joints and such.

It's not really that hard, I've fixed two RRoD consoles for a couple of friends using the X-Clamp method. As long as you know how to disassemble the console and have the right tools it's pretty easy, it was easier than installing my original Xbox's Xecuter 3 CE modchip.

Grats on the $30 Xbox though.

:)
I might not want to sell it though D:
I might just want to mod it :)

Oh sweet, I know how to solder.

Good to know that when my second-generation xbox dies, I'll be able to fix it.

Can you teach us your ways?

What of my ways?
My ways of getting things cheap?
Simple really
Since I go to a vocational school and I am in the computer programming shop class, I'm often around alot of people who I am good friends with sometimes have parts that they don't need and wish to sell them for cheap to friends, and I often will buy.
As for the Xbox, remember, buyitnow isn't always the best choice for broken consoles, you can often get them cheaper if you bid on them at the last second.

BuyItNow is like the worst way to Ebay. That's what retail stores are for...

It depends on the items though, I got Fable II Limited edition for 64 + shipping w/ buyitnow :)
Btw, If you are able to mod your DVD drive, I highly suggest it, since you are legally allowed to have one backup of any copyrighted software you have bought.
