I noticed that there's a lot of Halo CE players lately...so it got me thinking. I dusted a few things off...and voila. Maybe I'll finish it.

Incidentally, I've been asking around. Any recommendations on a great video card for less than 150-200 clams? My current one is being finnicky.

More like Sandtrap style architecture with dark textures.

You didn't.

CE hasn't topped 150 in 1.08 for a long time.

You must be mistaking Halo PC for Halo CE. They are seperate games with seperate servers.

There's a lot more than that in PC.

The gamespy server counter seems to be very very innacruate.

Its probably counting all versions of CE. Over 800 people play 1.04 cracked Halo CE I believe.

Lots play 1.00 too.

Sel

someone really should just haloboom all their servers so they move up lol

April 30th, 2009, 06:54 PM

Hello FireDragon

Selentic-the card looks great, except it requires a 6 pin power connector...I have four pin ones...

Those must be including all the players across all versions, because there is no way there are over 100 players online in 1.08 right now, let alone 1000.

Wow, haven't seen you in a while, dude. Think the last time was right when h2v came out, heh.

If I remember correctly, you just need an adapter that bridges across two four-pin connectors (if you have two available ones) if you don't already have a six-pin connector from your PSU. I should check that, though. As for the map... can't say much but I've seen your work before so I'm sure it'll be good.

EDIT: Found it. I was in a local computer shop and I wasn't sure if my 9500GT needed four-pin or six-pin power, so the guy passed me one of these (as it turns out, the 9500GT doesn't have any external power connectors... lol). I'm not entirely sure how common these are, but if some random computer shop in my little tiny town happens to have one, I'm willing to bet that they're pretty easy to find.

It's almost guaranteed there will be a port. How good of a port is up for debate, but microsoft is not going to pass up an attempt to make more money off their most lucrative franchise. As for the joke that h2v was, that no doubt severely hurt their profits, and made them nowhere near as much money as HPC did they may get the idea that they have to make it not suck to make money off of it.

We can only hope though :ohdear:

That's a good idea, I'll look at that. The card looks great and if that adapter will solve it, then I may go ahead and get it.

Varmint260 - like so (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200106)

In the meantime, here's a little gift that's 4 years old. I should've released it earlier, but I just never got around to it...

Presents (http://rainlandstudios.com/thenarrowsscenery.rar)

I made sure they were self contained (I think..), it's been a while since I looked at guerilla and sapien. Let me know if there's any issues with them.

Oh yeah...They're the scenery tags from my narrows map, treat them with love.

Looks like the same thing to me. However if you happen to have a local computer store they might be able to get you one for cheaper than ten bucks. I was buying a power supply from my computer store in this crappy little town and asked which power connector my card needed, and the guy said "here, I'll throw this adapter in for free just to make sure"

Sakievich
May 2nd, 2009, 11:13 PM
cool, I may do that then.

I managed to get the old map file's tags working...and so now I got it open in sapien. I guess it really is just like riding a bicycle... Maybe I'll remember how to make bumpmaps work in guerilla again...

Just for the nitpicky people, the map was only ever roughed out for gameplay, which was never finalized, once that's sorted through, I'll start into making it all pretty. After looking at it, I realized that I should open up the open spaces a bit more, it's looking kinda crowded.

I'm taking obscure shots on purpose, in case anyone's wondering why.

Yeah, I had started reworking it for H2V...but then MS released H2V and...it left me depressed for years and years...
