Eh, I'm going to try to explain this as well as I can, seeing as I'm not that tech savvy. :x

I have a SimpleTech ~300 gig external HDD that's been working fine up until earlier this week, when it started showing up as "Local Disk (F: )". It used to show up as "FV-U35 (F: )", and along with this name change, I can't access it, and I get a message saying "F:/ is not accessable; the file or directory is corrupted or unreadable", which is a load of horse shit. This thing is full of 100 gigs of music, and I'm not about to go out and burn all my got damn CD's again. Can you guys help? I'm on XP if that signifigantly effects anything.

(And no, google doesn't help worth shit.)

Try plugging it into another pc, or as a last resort get someone REPUTABLE to recover everything, I dunno how much it costs.

Thanks, uh, nothing is working. And no I'm not going to pay to get it recovered, it has a lot of porn on it. Help me guys. D:

You could crack open the enclosure and plug the drive in directly as if it were an internal drive, but SimpleTech (who?) could have soldered the connections. :(

Try changing the file paths so its G instead of F, I do that when mine screws up

I have thought about this, it's just that if I do it voids the warranty. :v:

Oh, and changing the drive letter doesn't do anything.
