I really want to know what makes a laser mouse better than an optical. I just got an Logitech laser mouse and it is so much better than my old optical mouse. i can't find much on optical vs laser but a whole lot on optical vs mechanical.

I use a laser mouse, and I like it. Only problem I found was that you have to have a mouse pad for a black desk, my mouse doesn't like it for some reason. I think it bounces off of the surface and screws up it's reading capability.

It's the same with regular optical mice.

You must use an optical mouse or a bad laser mouse, because laser mice work perfectly fine on black surfaces and even some types of glass. I just tried using my MX Revolution a variety of black surfaces (black painted wood shelf, black sheet of paper, side of my PC, base of my monitor) and it works perfectly.
