You know I had some hopes that Hugh Laurie would play as holmes.

No.

1) Sherlock Holmes as an action movie? Really? It doesn't fit.

2) They ruined Unstoppable. It's a song that's meant to be heard from the beginning to the end. You can't just take bits and pieces from it.

3) This Holmes does not live up to the traditional Sherlock Holmes. Think of House, just without a limp, but with a slightly more bleak outlook on life. That would be Sherlock Holmes.

I also think that it will be great. It's just that this is one of those "This is a great movie, but it doesn't belong in the [Insert Popular Series here] universe".

I myself will probably like this movie.

This. When I was a kid my Mom used to read me these stories, and let me tell you it was not a "riveting" experience. I usually fell to sleep pretty fast.

But your only beef with it is that its not holmesy enough.
Thing is...they had to cut alot of details to make it a 1:30 movie.
And the action...it has to be entertaining too ya know.

Its like Dragon Ball Evolution. Yeah they fucked it up, but they were trying to make it understandible to people who dont know the series.

He best be an opium shooting up, womanising, bitter, badass (not dissimilar to House actually), that's my favourite kind of Holmes.

I did not take this trailer seriously at all. It seemed totally comedic.

Looks like an interesting... Twist? To Sherlock Holmes, it's obviously not meant to be accurate to the original stories or literature though.

The trailer could have been alright if it were for something original, but for Sherlock Holmes, I'm not so sure. I guess they wanted to take Sherlock Holmes, and look at it with a different perspective, which may still work in the end. I guess only time will tell...

Seems like a combination of Sherlock Holmes with The Pink Panther (the good ones, not the Steve Martin ones)...which is win in my books.

awe i really wanted Hugh Laurie to play Holmes especially since his medical character House, G was based on Holmes. Trailer seems interesting enough be doesn't characterized the Holmes that was in the book, same can be said with Sanctuary. From what i can tell, it's going to be an action comedy.

Thread is too long, didn't read.

While the premise of the movie is dubious at best, I love Robert Downey Jr. and will definitely be seeing this.

The only thing that would save this movie would be to raise Jeremy Brent from the grave and put him into the role of Holmes.
