I've been looking into high definition video cameras over the past couple of days. It's been something that's been bugging me for months, but I never got around to doing any actual research on them until now.

From reading forums and reviews, there is one that has kept popping up: the Canon HV30 (http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Canon-HV30-Camcorder-Review-34401.htm). From what I've read, and from what I have seen, it seems like a fantastic camera for the money. I want something small for traveling, and something not ridiculously expensive. If you check YouTube, you can find several beautiful HD videos (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=videos&search_query=Canon+HV30&high_definition=1) made with the Canon HV30.

So before I buy, I'm asking for anyone's opinion on it. What do you think? Is there a better option? Anywhere I can find a good price on it?

My parents have got a HD camcorder, never use it real waste. They used it for their trip to NZ and that was it. I should probably render out some of their videos...

As for what camera they have, its a Sonyo Xacti HD 1000.

I cant really comment on if its good or not, I havent tried any other HD cameras.

Well, I decided to drop the money for the Canon HV30. The HV40 was just released, but it really doesn't have any advantages over the HV30.

Hopefully I'll be getting it Monday.
