I'd go with the bottom HP.

Gott damn, all of them suck TBQH.

However, I'd say go with either the 14.1" Acer, or the last HP, leaning towards the latter.

Why is it that AMD laptops chips suck so badly?

The AMD Neo is an excellent chip as far as netbooks are concerned, better than the atom and were it dual core, it could compete with some of the CULV Core 2 Duos.. As for the others, it's not that they suck, it's that they are old and tired and haven't been updated in years.

This is a laptop thread though, not a netbook thread. Turion needs a remake badly.

The HP dv2 is considered a laptop, not a netbook. :downs:

Thats what I'm saying, you said that Neo chips are good, but thats for netbooks, not proper laptops.

And sel, there is a reason why AMD mobile chips are only found on the cheapest laptops...

You're reading it wrong.

HP Dv2 is not a netbook. It is a notebook. It uses the Athlon Neo. What does that tell you about the Neo now? It was designed to compete with the Atom, but it's good enough to compete with Pentiums, Celerons, and C2S chips.

Well, it could tell me that the Turions are so bad that Neos are as good, if not better...thats why Intel are cautious about their atoms because their core 2s might be damaged by its success.

Intel is actually trying to replace the Atom series with the CULV Core 2 Duo series, since they are much better chips. I think these latest Atom CPUs that have just been released will be the last, if I'm not mistaken.

I think the whole netbook thing is dying, they're getting more and more powerful and expensive, and the linux thing went wrong, being replaced with XP etc etc, thats why the slim laptops like the lenovo one.

The slim laptops are a result of everyone trying to either imitate or compare their products to Apple's lineup. Apple sets the trends, everyone attempts to follow them for the next year or so, then Apple updates and it starts all over again.

Thats true, but just because Apple set it doesn't mean they're the best at it.

Yeah, there is. Do you know what it is?

It's because they're cheaper, and from what I've heard they aren't as powerful as the intel CPU equivalent. However they are very, very, far from bad.

They're cheaper because they're bad. They run hot and yes, they aren't as good as their equivalents from intel.

Go educate yourself. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turion_64)

You are comparing chips that are running on an ancient architecture that hasn't really been updated in any way other than a die shrink since 2005 (K8L) to a Core 2 Duo Penryn...there is no comparison. The K8 has been around since 2004, and the X2 since 2005, competing with the old Core Duos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_Duo).

Apples to oranges man, apples to oranges.
