So I am getting an iPhone

Don't buy it yet, new model is going to be released mid July, it's going to have a number of things, including 3g going at 7.2 mbps, and the way things are looking the low end model will be 16 gigs, for 200$ and the high end model will be 32. The WWDC is in like 2 weeks, it should be unveiled there.

Until then, just ride it out. The best App store apps IMO are wikipanion, facebook/myspace, white pages, pandora, and AIM. The jailbroken apps I use the most are MxTube (download and stream youtube videos over 3g with no quality loss), dTunes (can't say what that is), PDA net (tethering, but that's going to be in iPhone OS 3.0, but probably for extra charge), Winterboard (for themes), Spoof123 (enables you to disguise your caller ID), blacklist (blacklist numbers from contacting you), finder (file browser for your phone) and catagories (for folders). There's a ton of other good things to install on jailbroken phones that aren't apps, but many are going to probably disappear or need to be revised with OS 3.0.

I have a 2G. You can Jailbreak it and unlock it, and I don't think you can do that with a 3G.

I have 3g iPhone, its pretty nice and all. The only things I don't like about is when texting the keyboard is a little crammed up and you cant turn it sideways. The other thing is my ipod music randomly comes on sometimes when its on hold and puased... Other then that it's pretty nice.

You can jailbreak and unlock the 3G also with quickpwn. You can jailbreak until the latest 2.21 firmware, but If you want it unlocked too, then you will have to only update until the 2.2 firmware for the 3g.

Yeah true, the 3G wasn't that different than the first, the only changes were it's appearance and the 3G and GPS chips. The naming system for those who wonder is 1,1 for the original, and 1,2 for the 3G. The new one is 2,1.

On of my freinds made a clear case for his iphone. You can see all the insides and what not. I'm not sure how he made it though. Might wanna look into that. Also, as a cool iphone app, you should get the one were you snort cocaine.

Lol, well I was in the back of the AT&T store with Michael today (my iPhone hook up guy) and we were messing with some stupid little apps. iSteam has got to be one of the lamest, and yet neatest little apps ever.

You are correct, I think what I am remembering is something I saw on Engadget China. It was a screen cap showing the specs of iPhone 2.
