well I just got a new monitor and its lolhuge. Thing is, the max resolution on it is 1360x768 and things look UGLY.
Its all huge.
This is, however, as big as it goes in the settings. Are there any other ways of adjusting it?

What? If the panel has a max resolution of 1360x768 then you're stuck with that.
:confused2:

Well its a Vizio television but I am using it as a monitor since television is oldtech and sucks. Its a 72 inch monitor (or something close to that but I am pretty sure thats right. Mom disagree's but she is drunk at 4 PM.)

You either got tricked into buying a 720p TVr, or your X300SE won't do 1920x1080...

I didn't buy it warsaw, I just got it. So if I did no loss here.
Well are there any outside programs to change my resolution?

even if you could change the res, it would look fucked up.

I know that. but its 1360x768, if I multiply those by 2, wouldn't it be twice as small? because that would be excellent.

No, it would be four times smaller.

I think both LCD monitors and LCD TVs are stuck at whatever resolution is specified on the box. You can only go lower, not higher, than that resolution if you wanna change it.
Plus, TVs are meant to be looked at from FAR AWAY, hence a "low" resolution for such a huge screen. E.g. I have a 55 inch HDTV whose native res is 1920x1080. If I were to sit as close to my TV as I sit at my computer, then of course everything would look really ugly and grainy. But when I use that TV I sit a good distance away on a couch, so everything looks sharp and clear. Try increasing the distance between you and your TV...
and of course, computer monitors, whether desktop or laptop, are meant to be viewed CLOSE UP, hence a higher pixel count per square inch than a TV.

I think the X300SE can push 2048x1536 max, so it's probably not a graphics problem.

Problem is, higher the res the smaller text/icons get. Sitting far away makes it nearly impossible to use, or at least thats been my experience on a 32inch tv.

You're not understanding that the max resolution really is the max.
Look at it this way - each pixel is a light bulb. You can't split that bulb into 4 seperate bulbs like you want to do.

You can't watch HD movies on a 420i (standard definition) screen.
Same principle applies here.

The nvidia control panel has something for custom resolutions, sometimes it doesn't always work though.
E: Oh you have ATI. There's stuff on google about custom resolutions for the x300, but not solutions.
EE: http://downloads.guru3d.com/PowerStrip-3.75-download-169.html
This program can change ATI resolutions, but I'm not sure if it works for x300's.

I want the borders to my windows not to be 3/4ths of an inch wide.
I mean hell, my browsers top secton takes up a 3rd of the screen with the 3 toolbars it has.

It's probably a plasma, lots of them are really big but have low resolutions for their size.

If wherever he lives is like Vancouver, you can get perfect working order(thrown out due to stains or minor abrasions) screens in every fifth trashcan.

Hahaha, you heard of friends in high places?
I have friends in strange, relatively low, places.
New question though, any way to play halo CE on this ogre in its resolution?
and its actually 1366x768.

Yeah, I figured...wasn't worth correcting your 6-pixel error though...=รพ
You'll have to force the resolution, methinks.

Yes, but what res was it running at?
E: Maybe the screen's refresh is not 60Hz...I know refresh goes down as size and res go up.

Some GPUs or games, not sure, have a hissy fit if you try to run games in full screen at odd resolutions/aspect ratios. When I had the Radeon 2100 integrated running on this computer, I wanted to play Halo at a low resolution that was still 16x10, so I tried 640x400 and I got that exact message. It's really weird, but somehow the 2100 didn't want to run Halo at 640x400 on a 1680x1050 monitor. It's possible that your GPU doesn't want to run Halo at 1366x768 in full-screen, even though that's what the TV's proper resolution is. Now I'm interested; I'm going to try running Halo at that resolution with command line.
EDIT: Yeah, failure with DirectX. Maybe it's the GPU, or maybe Halo refuses to run at that exact resolution in full-screen. Might want to try something similar, not sure. Looks like this GeForce doesn't want to run it in full-screen at 1366,768 or 640,400 or any number of odd resolutions. It's possible that Halo will not work at all with that resolution.

My 1900GT (weird variant of the 1900XT/ETC from like, a billion years ago it seems) could force 1920x1200 on my 1680x1050 screen. Looked decent too.
Also, lolin still at the huge screen with few pixels. that's like a black man with a tiny penis.
