I saw on newegg for $99, ATI 4770 with specs that said it had 640 steam processors (OH MY GOD HOLY SHIT) and ddr5 with only a 128-bit interface
Take a look at the specs, and I need to know if that would be better than the 9600gt. I'm a bit doubting since it has a 128-bit interface and lower clock speeds, but it has 10 TIMES as many steam processors, so I'm not sure.

Since I saw 640 steam processors for only $100, I thought I'd get that instead.
I want to save up for a nice PSU and this card. I also need to know if that's enough for the card (it comes with converters!, YESH) If it can, then everything together is probably around $125, plus taxes and shipping probably only $130-$140, so I'm ready to start planning for buying.
Now, I also need to know if my CPU would bottle-neck this card, it's an Intel core duo 2 e4500 @ 2.2ghz. I'm thinking in the mid or high 800s mhz for the ATI (for the core clock, from 700mhz), and 2.4-2.6 ghz for the core duo 2.
Yeah, I deleted a lot of post. This is what I'm focusing on now, the 4770 actually looks amazing, and with some overclocking would be amazing.

aren't pci-e wires 6 pin?
regardless, any psu should have at least one.
-edit- yes they are... all of these have 1 pci-e wire.

9600GT can run on a 250W PSU.
Also, it is a drastic improvement over the 8600GT, and is actually just a hair shy of 9800GT performance.

Yes. The 9600GT is one of the best budget gaming cards.

I would get a Radeon 4770, its the same cost as a 9600 gt but is better than a 9800 gt, almost gtx level :)
EDIT: It runs more efficiently as well

It also takes up more power. While it is an amazing card, he is trying to get the most bang for the buck without upgrading multiple components.
Needles, is your PSU rated for 80 Plus efficiency?

The 4770 takes only slightly more than the 9600 GT on idle. I''m pretty sure the PSU can take it, the only issue is finding a radeon 4770. All the online retailers seems to be out of stock for some reason.

The some reason is cus its so popular, and it was only just released.

You can also look into the 9800 GT green edition, no external power connectors.

Look for the sticker on the PSU. Should tell you everything you need to know.

9600GT can run on a 250W PSU.
I had no idea that a 9600GT would run on a 250W PSU. My 9500GT's box said 350W minimum (and the card doesn't even have any power connectors), so I upgraded anyways.
Also to note that with my 9500GT I can run most source mods at maximum settings (no Antialiasing, but everything else) at 1680x1050, so I'm sure that the 9600GT is just fine.
Also, it is a drastic improvement over the 8600GT, and is actually just a hair shy of 9800GT performance.
From what I've read (confirm or deny), a 9500GT is essentially a slightly upgraded 8600GT, so the 9600 is even better. Needles, if you can get one with discounts at 65 bucks, that's pretty sweet. I got my 9500GT with discounts for about 50 bucks.

9600GT is basically a more efficient 9800GT. 9800GT is a G92 I believe (like the 8800GT and the rest of the 8800 series after the update), where as the 9600GT is G94. As for running on 250W, I've seen reviews on Newegg from people who bought the low-profile 9600GT by Galaxy and have said it runs fine on their stock Dell 250W PSUs.

$84 after rebate...=รพ
I don't think it matters what form factor it is, since the SFF one is still a full-powered 9600GT.

My mom has actually offered me, if I helped her do dishes, clean some rooms, help tutor my brother a bit, that I could get around $15-$20 a week, so I want to save up for a nice PSU and this card.

The HD4770 does indeed trash the 9600GT. You can't read stream processors like that though, since nVidia and ATi use different systems...640 on the 4770 is not 10x better than the 64 on the 9600GT.
E: Yes, your CPU will probably bottleneck. Overclock that sucker, 2.6GHz should be fine.

Would I be able to overclock the GPU a bit?

Yes, it runs cooler and more efficient than other cards so you can push it further than other cards.

Overclocking a CPU? On a Dell?

Overclocking a CPU? On a Dell?
I'll try =/. I think foxconn might have some good drivers.

I found drivers for the g33 series, would a new BIOS file unlock things?
Another edit:
I just restarted it after cleaning it, and I over clocked and changed to fan speed to 100% with no problems! 30 min. so far and NOTHING has gone back to default. Core bus is 150 Mhz higher, and memory bus is 100 mhz higher, and my temp increases by about 3-4 C when idle or gaming, on my GPU.
I'll try the CPU later. I'm hoping for 2.4 Ghz ATM.
