So I have recently purchased a computer (still waiting for it to get here) and in my room I have a 1080p 120 hz Samsung 40" tv(LN40B630). I guess my question is is that I know most games do allow for you to change refresh rates, but I am not quite sure to the degree as i have never owned a decent computer or monitor that would be able to refresh at those rates anyhow. I know in most games you can usually up your refresh rate up to say like 85 hz, but is limited by graphics card? or does the game take max refresh rate allowed by your monitor and limits how high it goes based on that? or do the games simply not allow such a refresh rate? Now I've learned that the card I'm getting (gtx 275 1792 mb) has a max refresh rate of 240 hz, but i dont know what resolution this was produced at or even if games allow such refresh rate. So i guess my question is to those people who either have a 120hz+ monitor or have played a game on pc on one.

Refresh rate isn't controlled by your video card. Think of the refresh rate as the maximum FPS that your monitor/TV can run at. For example, if you're running a game at 500 FPS your TV will still be limited to 60/120 FPS depending on what you have the TV set to at the time. Just set the game's refresh rate to it's highest setting and you should be fine, since there aren't many games with 120hz settings.

Nice TV btw, I want a Samsung 120hz 40" 1080p as well.

Thanks, that's excellent, I'm really siked for my first computer, and this is just one more reason to be, thanks for the input. Oh and btw, great tv, i get compliments all the time, though had i had the money at the time i would have gotten the Newest LED one, 1,000,000:1 contrast...

I won't be getting an LED LCD until the price drops down to par with what they have mainstream now. They're cheaper to produce anyways...
