I might switch back to the flaregun for a few things now-- Valve took the suggestion of their forums (oh no) and added in mini-crits to enemies that have been pre-ignited. It's an extra 10dmg per hit.
Also, FaN does more damage now :dance:

I've actually found the ambassador ridiculously powerful, but I've mainly used it as a sniping weapon and anti-w+M1 pyro weapon, where those headshots come often.

heh, the FaN rapes now - it's awesome.
I've been 2 shotted by a FaN scout more times than I can count. There is no way it needed a buff.

FoN was fine the way it was.
bad scouts cant aim.
i know it's my favourite class but i prefer a balanced game, hence why i rage on demo's.
i dunno about hte mini crits for the flare gun though... it's supposed to go hand in hand with the axetinguisher.
same as the FoN.
if your trying to just 2 shot everybody you really dont know how to play scout.
i use it all the time.

If the target is on fire by any means, the flaregun minicrits on them on the direct hit-- the rest of the burn doesn't minicrit.
Also, I'm a sucky scout who can't use the FAN right. I was under the impression it did as much damage for one shot as the scattergun does for one shot, but I guess I was wrong?

he was fine the way he was. he was already 2sk with the FoN.
as for the flare gun it was a distance deterrent/ irritant.
people run when they're on fire 90% of the time. thats what the flaregun is for.
it's not supposed to be a killing machine, just supposed to keep people at bay. If your trying to frag people with it you dont know what your doing.

it does, however it has a much larger area of effect.
it's hard to miss.
and the knock back is worth it's weight in gold. 2 of them onto a reloading soldier or a demo, and a bat and they're in real trouble.

So apparently* theres a glitch with the new flaregun mini-crits that causes sentries to attack allies that are ignited by the flaregun. Good way for pyros to take down engis and sentrys from a distance.
* could have just been a one off thing that happened to me a while ago.

If your sentry shoots you it will hurt you.
Dunno about allies though.

It locked onto me (I was engi) started shooting, I hid behind the dispenser, checked to see if anyone else was around, it was just me, popped my head up again and it locked on again.
Kept locking onto me until the fire wore off.
A pyro came up with his flamethrower blazing (ally) just as I died, even he was baffled.

I used to whore the flare myself, but then tried the shotty one day (I'd never really used it before the pyro update) and found it to be much more useful for my play style (covering retreats, softening people up, taking out weak enemies outside my flamethrower's range, etc).

Are you hitting people twice with it? They need to be on fire first-- works 100% for me.

I can confirm Flaregun minicrits, played Pyro last night and saw the little minicrit text pop up after I started hitting people multiple times with my Flare Gun.
Bad's game is loopy confirmed!

I think it should do an actual crit considering all the power it's lost with the introduction of jarate and extinguishing air-blasts.
I love the flare gun, and I use it a lot (I am getting mini-crits) because if you set somebody on fire, it distracts them, it eventually does a lot of damage, and if it's a hurt player you can kill them as they run away from your team. Or, axetinguish, :bunchies:
It does not seem to be the mini-crits, but I've found the gun even better recently.

It's better against lone Heavies now, you'll run into a few dumb ones that don't retreat when they should. Hello Flare Gun kill!

Hell, if you're an acceptable pyro, just go for ten of the achievements and you'll get it. I'm a less-than-average pyro, and I was able to unlock it in less than 2 hours of normal gameplay without even going for anything.

I still need my axe. The thing is I don't play Pyro enough to get it legit - I'll just jump in whenever we need some heavy point defense or stalemate-busting.
