Oh how I hate how Garry's Mod makes me lag for no reason.
Every other game I play, involves little or no lag at all. However, when going onto Garry's Mod, it's an entire different story.
Like, here is a scenario:
So here I am, playing in Jetboom's Zombie Survival server. I get many a kill in the beginning of the game, I get up to the Inferno (lol) gun.
Can you guess what happens next?
While I was walking toward our soon to be cade, all of the sudden...
I stop. I am like what the fuck, then it puts me back 4 to 5 spaces back, and plays me walking forward slowly. This is what is known as "Phantom-walking". You see yourself replaying yourself walking, while other people see you standing still. This is lag at it's finest moment.
And then what happens?
I get mauled by ONE HEADCRAB.
Seriously, not cool.
I never had any bad experience with lag on any other game, except the online games from Steam.
Any ideas why it happens?

First off, yeah, they would. But that's not really it in this situation. Gmod is just a naturally laggy game, at least from my experience. If more than 1 person is on a server, the ping usually goes straight to 500 for everyone, whether they're on dial-up or T3. With all the crap that usually gets dumped from spawning, it's not entirely surprising, but it is a problem that hasn't been acknowledged by anyone who could help it.

In gmod all I do is barrel spam, and then blow them up.
I would do more, but I don't actually know how.

Find a server.
See somebody building something cool.
Ask them to teach you how to do it.
People in Gmod are generally pretty happy to teach newbies, even if it's only to show off vOv
(after all, that noob today is all to often teaching you crap in 6 months :C)

Learn how to script with Lua and make scripted weapons (sweps).

Better yet, make a gamemode!
Or learn to make planes, or mechs, or tanks, or boats, or hovercraft, or cars, or I DON'T KNOW IT'S GMOD GO NUTS
eg: Elmo recently learnt to code with Expression2. He made explosive barrels that flew to whrever he aimed and flashed rainbow colours at a rate which would give anybody a fit. He made many of them and sent his LEGION OF LOVE BARRELS flying into anybody who DARED OPPOSE HIM.
shit was so cash

Or, I can keep barrel spamming, and figure out how to make my own shit in 3ds for gmod!
and then get all the cool kids to put it in their servers!
