I'm kinda wanna know what is the Fastest and Strongest Supercomputer and its benchmarks are.:D I'm not a real hardware buff so I'm uncertain about those shit I find.

It doesn't have to be, but preferred to be in this format-
Name of the Model:
Company who designed it:
Benchmark shits here:
Cooling method:
Cost:
Year:
Place it's stationed at:

Pic of some random supercomputer simulation i found for you =P

There's a company that's supposedly going to build what will be the most powerful Super-Computer in the world just north of where I live.

Maybe they'll let me play Quake on it.

The weathernetwork has big computers

Maybe they'll let me play Quake Uber Revamp of Quake on a heavily modded CryEngine2 to get the best frame rate to visual ratio on it.

Fixed that 4 U

@ Sel: Size doesn't matter Forget that I even stupidly said that and go with: size doesn't mean godly performance.

(I guess)size doesn't mean godly performance.

I hear that all too often *sigh*

E: to be relevant..

This is what the thread made me think of, so I post it here.

Supercomputers are usually more like a network or cluster of computers than a single powerful processing machine. And they're almost ALWAYS designed for data processing and NOT graphical performance, with the exception of rendering farms. You can't compare desktop benchmarks to supercomputer benchmarks, it would be like comparing an F-22 Raptor to a Humvee...

Check out this website for a list of some of the top supercomputers in the world:

Never said i was. i just want to know what is the highest performing supercomputer is to compare to the first.

Thats not a computer. Thats a plasma fission reactor power plant (reacts at 1-2.5 millions degrees F)being built in Europe. It isnt finished now but its suppose to by 2018 and working by 2030.

It was jsut on Modern Marvels 'hot' episode.

I think he might of meant that the image was rendered or simulated using a supercomputer... If not then, well... That's kinda sad.

Speaking of which, which member here has the most powerful and efficient computer here?

Fixed. It's a simulation showing the movement of plasma particles inside the magnetic envelope generated by this tokamak (known as ITER).

Me.

Unless you're talking benchmarks, then I think it's Mr. Ifiduiafi. (http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10592)

I'm one of the few (only one?) on this site running a quad core with 8GB's of memory for rendering and stuff.

Wrong graphics card for rendering though. You'd get more than double the performance with a workstation card.

Also, DrunkenSamus, don't put powerful and efficient in the same sentence with computers; powerful computers are rarely efficient, and efficient computers are rarely powerful. :haw:

At four times the price. :saddowns:

Yeah this has basically no answer... BUT Conficker could be considered the worlds most powerful supercomputer.

Now excluding Botnets...

There are many things that a Supercomputer can do... what do you want to consider the criteria for "fastest Supercomputer"?

that could be done on my moms compaq...

Ty, i could exactly remember what it was.

WE ARE NOT COMPUTERS!!!! We're clones =P

@Freelancer: yes i meant a rendered simulation of the particle flow. sorry if my wordings gave you a different idea.
