Was playing TF:2, pwnin it up lightin shit on fire and then...

My screen exploded, all the vertexes stretched out, it looked god awful, and then everything freezes and my screen's report no signal.

Now I get no video signal whenever I turn on my PC.

Beloved 8800GTS 640MB that I got for free from eVGA by some shipping mistake, you were a great video card, rest in peace my friend.

So now that I'm out of the loop on this stuff, what is a equally performing (or higher) for a decent price?

Edit: Never mind, it just overheated...hardcore....

Just turned it on after about 10 minutes of it off and it still registered as 90c when I got to my desktop. D:

Wow, how hot is your room? I'd expect the ATi's to get up to that temperature...the nvidia's, hardy ever.

Either crank the gfx card fan up, clean out any dust, and watch out for little tell-tale abnormalities you get before meltdown (I don't mean the big screen explosion thingy :P).

Time to get yourself a Thermalright HR-03 Plus (http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/vga/hr03plus/product_vga_cooler_hr03plus.htm)!

Well my 4850 does on full load at 80% fan speed. And there have been complaints of high temps elsewhere.

My graphics card doesn't have any problems with TF2 what-so-ever. Must be because it isn't some shitty ATi grapics card! http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l42/selentic/Emotes/Futurama/sruffy.gif

That's not saying much. I can run TF2 at max settings @ 1680x1050 on this X1600PRO. The resolution may not be as high as Atty's and Freelancer's, but the card is 3.5 years old and my case and room have hideous ventilation. I've never had problems with the card or it's drivers. Only problem I had with drivers was due to a gay Seagate hard drive.

You must have a shitty 4850,

Mine maxes out tf2, never heats up much, and I can never hear the fan!
