Wow. I haven't been on for six months, but this was just too awesome not to comment on. First of all, I think this is amazing idea and will be great for all non-botters. I wanted to contribute a couple ideas:
1. Perhaps the first person to reach an extraordinary number of kills would get a medal in their honor or something.
2. Is there a way to track a player's most used weapon? Perhaps there could be accuracy medals too?
3. You could have K:D specific to weapons, and have achievements for 90% accuracy or something.
What's the difference between medals and achievements? Forgive my ignorance, but I've never played Halo 3, and never played Halo 2 online. Also, sorry if some of this has been dealt with above. I didn't manage to read past page 30.

An achievement is essentially a milestone, and can only be awarded once to a person. They're typically for long-term goals that the average person needs to try to get, though on most XBL games, there are easy achievements that simply show progress in the game being played (like ones for completing a level, regardless of difficulty).
A medal is something awarded in a Halo match for meeting certain criteria. They can be awarded multiple times, and are kind of like mini-achievements, though they're meant to sum up your performance in the match than your "career" performance. For example, in Halo 3, medals are awarded for multikills, killing sprees, and for getting kills with certain weapons.

Can there be a "reset achievment" option please?

Or how about making progressively harder achievements as people reach the those that that are set at launch?

Since I've played the game since the day before launch, you can just award me all the achievements right off the bat right? I've done them all I'm sure.

That means you could do them all again easily right? :eng101:

Due to kornman00's recent issues, and the fact that this was always a back-burner project, yes, we're a bit behind schedule. The bottleneck at the moment is finalizing the binary and XML formats and getting Synapse ready.

I agreed to Synapse after I announced OS2, which was suppose to be the last project. I told the team that I could get Synapse by around the time OS2 is release, but I didn't specify in which state (ie beta, public release). OS2 has always taken priority but the internal beta (which is what I had planned to have when I agreed) for Synapse is still on schedule.

can someone fill me in on how synapse relates to cerebrum and a timetable for either?
I think if halo ce had some kind of global hash career rank it would help the players arrogant ways.

...
Synapse is an extension to Open Sauce for Servers that records a shitton of information from each game and dumps it to a file, compresses it and does a secure upload to Cerebrum. Cerebrum is the website for viewing games and player profiles.
Cerebrum is currently frozen until I have the XML format we're using for intra-system data movement (the final output template is "ready"). Kornman00 just gave the Synapse "timetable", you should read his post.

ok what is open sauce?
so cerebrum is on schedule to post a shitton of halo ce data to a website. I hope the data can be posted in a way that makes sense to all of us noobs. - Like lifetime kills, or caps - or whatever
Edit: or that it is globally ranked throughout servers that uses the app.

Open Sauce is a project created by Kornman. Basically, it allows us to edit Halo's code, or even add our own. This (http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?t=16647) and this (http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?t=16852) are just two small examples of what can be done with Open Sauce. I suggest you learn to use the Search feature (http://www.modacity.net/forums/search.php), or even just look around the forums. It's not hard to find those topics, especially since they have Open Sauce in the thread name.

Hopefully people like yourself will be able to understand the statistics that Cerebrum will show.

Absolutely not. We will be displaying stats in raw binary.

Sam, this question has always bothered me.
Are you honestly this dumb, or are you just one of the most dedicated trolls ever?
Every post you make is not only uninformed, but badly composed as well, I'm pretty damn sure that after dealing with this for 3 fucking years, we're tired of it.
There's a fucking news thread about what open sauce is right now, and if you would bother to read some posts and inform yourself you wouldn't be asking such fucking stupid questions.
god fucking damn

We're discussing additions to the dedicated server platform to make it more robust and functional.
