I saw a new trailer to the movie 2012 and I have to say the special effects look awesome. You can read the extra info but it's the video you want to watch which is at the bottom of the page.

I hate this moving for existing. Now every average Joe will think they're fucking specialists on the world ending in 2012 and speculation, gossip, etc, will rage through society like wild fire and I'll have to deal with absolute idiocy for the next three years.
"OMG I HEARD In 2102 LIKE THE WORLD WILL LIKE END IS THAT TRUE?!"
Anyways, looking forward to this. Should be a good movie, if only for the body count.

Oh don't worry Atty, that is not the worst of it, the worst part is after December 21st 2012, when the exact same fucking joes say:
" I told you the world wasn't going to end!"

I disagree. This is just another Independence Day / Day After Tomorrow, no one takes those scenarios seriously.
I'm hoping for a good flick with some sweet special effects.

They don't have to take the movie's scenario seriously, they just have to take the myth seriously... like Nostradamus, Y2K, Mr. Mertle, Loch Ness, Joseph Smith, and the Easter Bunny.

I believe in those.....

I enjoyed The day after tommorow and Independance Day, and I tend to like the apocalyptic thriller type movies, so I'll probably see this.
As for 2012, we'll see what happens. If things start to look bad I'll go get wasted, because that is a solution to every problem man has ever faced :)

Just one of those "LETS BLOW UP IMPORTANT MONUMENTS!" movies.

Definitely pouring on the special effects with this one. Not complaining. I like explosions. lol But what is the reason behind all this? What, the world will just fall apart on Dec 21st? At least with The Day after Tomorrow and Independence Day there was some sort of cause like global warming or aliens. It seems like things just randomly destruct in this movie all because of a prophecy created 1000's of years ago. Still though, definitely want to see this. The ideas and theories that will be presented could be interesting too.

They all don't just randomly destruct and fall apart. Earthquakes, tsunami's, and volcanoes are tearing the world apart.

Stupid idea for a movie but damn good idea to make a movie about it.
What I mean by that is this: The whole 2012 thing is retarded Y2K'ness. But the idea that its something that interests the public so greatly, its pretty brilliant to make a movie about it.

I think it's nice to have a movie based on a what if scenerio. I mean the day after tommorow was a what if scenerio and also was independence day. Plus, watching videos of nature wreck havok on a city is really fun to watch such as the discovery channel shows mega tsunami, mega earthquake, and mega volcano.

Day After Tomorrow sucked.

I'm similar but I think that it's going to be another wack-movie like Day After Tomorrow, and Independence Day, except for the fact that he's making fun of Archaeologists/Religion
Just for those who want to know, the date 2012 isn't actually the end of the world according to the Mayans, for all we know, it's just that the Mayans didn't feel like going any further, or that we lost/cant find the next part of the calendars.
There are actually several disasters that could occur that are actually plausible. Meteors hitting is more likely than any of the others, as in a "Discover" type science magazine I read, there's a 1 in 32(i think that's the right odds) chance a certain larger meteor could hit in 2012 (if it hits at all)

Of course, why not? lol. I thought the day after tomorrow sucked too, but it was the effects that i liked the most in the movie. Hopefully this movie will have a descent story line and great effects.

Day After Tomorrow sucked.
Sorry.
I'm obliged to agree. Apparently everyone in the world has completely forgotten about Emmerich's last CG'ed fuckfest of a flop (that caveman movie) barely a year after it came out.
When two guys who had created true classics just over a decade ago come together for schlock like this after allowing themselves to remain in such a drawn-out decline, I sit back and say "fuck it", and then pop in The Patriot or Grosse Pointe Blank. God damn, those are two of my favorites.

me too.
but 12/21/2012 is suppose to be the end of the age of Pisces. after that is the age of aquarian which is a new era. That is the theory I believe in. But I also want to believe in the "twin sun theory (nemesis theory)," since there's no real proof...

i interpreted it as a father spent too much time working on his weather stuff he forgot what mattered to him, and he ended up risking his life through a complete and total climate shift just to get to his son, it didnt stop global warming at all he just survived it.

Looks like a cool movie with all the special effects, just hoping the plot is better than random stuff being destroyed and everyone running away/getting scared in a repetitive motion.
And it doesn't need a happy ending either....bleh...to many movies have happy endings.

This is what I'm riding on. I love Emmerich's films. Independence Day is probably in the Top 5 movie favourites for me.
