Ok, I have a problem with my computer that I actually don't think I can fix on my own.
Problem #1: For a while now I've been sidestepping a startup problem with my computer. Instead of starting windows normally, I would press F8 and then choose "Use Last Good Configuration" instead. If I start up windows normally when the desktop loads services.exe crashes and a countdown of one minute appears on the screen announcing when a shutdown will occur. I've been avoiding that problem for a while, but it would be nice to fix that.
Problem #2: The real problem. A file (userinit.exe) in my system32 folder has become infected. The virus is called sheur2.acax; that's what malwarebytes called it. I try cleaning it, it says it cleaned it, but when I scan it the virus is still there. I went into safemode and tried to remove it there, but no luck. This virus is a problem because supposedly it sends spam to people's email addresses. My ISP noted this and shut down our service temporarily because we were considered a threat. Anyway, is there a way to clean this system file? Maybe a way to replace it with a fresh copy?
I want to avoid a reformat at all costs. Any ideas? Ask me anything that you need to know.
E: Ok, apparently CA Internet Security actually cleaned the file in the last scan. I always thought this program was a piece of crap. Well anyway, the less important, but still want to fix problem remains.
