I just had a sudden urge to watch the early 20th century classic. I'm going to watch it right now but want to know your opinions on him.

I myself really enjoy the old classic silent films of Chaplin and his comedy.

Black and white comedies are pure gold.

If you feel like tottering on the edge of sanity however, check out the movies Metropolis. It's incredible.

In fact, they just found the original ending to it (they thought it was lost in WW2), and it supposedly makes the silent film even more fantastic than it was.

I heard it in Lucky Number Slevin:

Mr. Goodkat: "Charlie Chaplin once entered a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest in Monte Carlo and came in third; that's a story."

I have to say though, out of all of Charlie Chaplin's films, I like The Great Dictator the best.

Hearing him talk really makes a difference for me.

I have 18 of his vids on 2 DVD: The Best of Charles Chaplin.

I heard he inspired Hitler to get the mustache.

Yeah, Hitler wanted to appear less threatening, so he modeled his mustache after Charlie Chaplin.

Really worked out well for him...
