I can't seem to make it fucking work. :<

The system I am trying to install this codec is on Vista.

I right click on the inf file, click install. Then a command prompt comes up for a half a second and then disappears. I look around and see that the codec isn't even installed, EVEN AFTER I CLICKED INSTALL.

Seriously, it's getting annoying listening to some Halo 2 dialogue or sounds sounding corrupt in your ears.

:saddowns:

Try compiling a sound, I think you've already got it installed.

It's weird in Vista. In XP you could change priority to various codecs you had installed through the device manager, but I have yet to find such a functionality in Vista. I *had* it working on Vista a while ago, though it has since stopped functioning. I can't say much else other than to screw around with the installer and hope you don't break anything. Where exactly are you "looking" to see if it's installed? As FR said, it may have been installed anyhow, so you should try compiling something.

I have a 64-bit Vista computer, it doesn't work on it. My laptop, which is a 32 bit Vista, does the exact same thing. Nothing happens.

What I am looking for is Halo 2 Dialogue, because it's for Cityscape. However, when I try playing one of the dialogue sound files in WMP, it says I dont have the codec for it, even though I installed it.

baby, why don't you try some vlc? or if you'd like, grab an audio editor like goldwave and save them as mp3's? I can slip you a copy if you'd like.

Goldwave: No codec is available to encode or decode the audio format or an error occurred during conversation.

And I am guessing that VLC will say the same thing too.

I need to be able to hear this format, or else tool is gonna say "cannot read source file". I can compile any other song/sound file just fine, not sounds that are using the xbox codec.

Heh, you've never used VLC. It has its own damn codecs! You want to play something? VLC'll do it. *checks list for ADPCM* e: There's a check... don't know if it'll work with "Xbox" ADPCM, though, but you can always try.

Nope. VLC did not play it, as expected.

It's possible the exported file is corrupt. If nothing plays it, maybe the problem is the file itself.
