Is it possible to modify my controls in TF2 to make switching between my 2 weapons hitting TAB and when I hit F it switches to my melee weapons.

EX.

TAB toggles between scatter gun and pistol and F auto switches to bat.

easy way would just bind f to weapon slot3 and TAB to quick switch previous weapon in the options control menu. problem with that is after using melee you will need to select primary/seconday again to reset the quickswitch toggle. odd you use TAB to quickswitch and not q.
sure there is a way to write a script to only have TAB switch between primary/secondary but i forget.
if you want it one class only, something like this in your scout.cfg (or w/e class)

bind "TAB" "lastinv"
bind "f" "slot3"

haven't scripted in a while so... would post my scout scripts but it's messy.

oh and i advise using any script with the wait command. since the last update valve added the option for servers to disable the command causing your game to crash.

For the mele thing, you'd want to have it switch to weapon 3, fire then do the "take out previous weapon" thing (Q button by default).

But I've never been interested in scripting (seems too close to cheating for my tastes).

I just can't the weapon switching in source. It bothers me having to scroll through them. I just want to instantly switch to the weapon I need.

Options, Keyboard Tab, Advanced Button, tick "Fast Weapon Switch"
i was assuming he already had that on... valve should really default the quickswitch on.

It's annoying to move my finger all the way up there too. I set up my controls in all games sort of like that. Except UT3 because it doesn't bother me that much in UT3.
