So over the summer i have the opportunity to make some cash, and everything in the computer i have now is outdated, excluding the video card. So throughout the summer i am going to be buying bits and pieces of a new computer, starting with the case. Heres a list for you guys so you could see if im missing anything or incompatible things (which may be likely)

So here it is

I already have 3 monitors, so i wont need to be buying a new one
I also have the video card and PSU (profile specs) and the case includes a PSU which i will be removing and moving into this current computer

I have to keep this PC because my mom is a teacher and will work on this computer next year.

The highest I am going to spend is $700
And the total for the things i havent purchased yet is $677.96.

I only have knowledge about this stuff when it comes to ram and video cards. So some of you smarter people look over this to see if i need to change anything. Thanks, any pointed out flaws will get +rep.

P.S. the computer i have now is just an upgraded to death 2004 dell machine

Hey you.

Yeah you.

Buy Windows 7, don't mess with this Vista nonsense. I used to love it too, but it's time to move on bro.

Ok, first things first:

1. Your motherboard is an LGA775 socket, and your CPU choice is a Core i7 with a Socket 1366...now, do the math. You should come to the conclusion that it won't fit. Either you get a motherboard with an X58 (or otherwise 1366 socket), or you switch to a Core 2 Duo/Quad CPU. Since you are on a budget, you probably won't have much choice in the matter and will have to go with the Core 2, which is still perfectly respectable in its own right. Push comes to shove, you could build yourself a top of the line AMD system and stay within budget.

2. You can do better than that on the RAM. Try This. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227293) It's worth the extra $18.

3. Video card...yeah, we'll get to that after you fix the above...

Everything else is peachy.

Its going over my maximum price a bit but i may be able to work with it.

e: they had a few used ones i kinda liked, but i dont want the chance of buying a fucked up product

I prefer the DFI one because I like to tweak stuff, but this one works just as well too. Are you sure you want a MicroATX and not a full-ATX motherboard? You can run SLI or Crossfire on here, but you won't be able to utilise your other expansion slots if you do, so no sound card, etc.

I'm an AMD man myself, and while they don't have the best CPU's on the market, you can get a top of the line Phenom for not that much money, and it could probably outperform the I7 that you want to get.

I like this guy.

My phenom ii is a dual core 3.1GHz but the first batches of them have more of chance to be unlockable to a quad core.

If it matters this is what I got: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=10878712 Minus the vista no idea why that's in there now.

wat.

No, even the i7 920 at stock speeds can outperform the Phenom II 955 at 3.6GHz overclock. Granted, a Phenom II 955 is still very respectable in its own right. If you have to go Core 2, I'd say get the Phenom II instead since they are on par with the Core 2 and are still cheaper for the whole system. It's easier to find a quality budget AMD-based motherboard than it is a quality budget Intel-based motherboard. Also, Socket AM3 is likely to be around longer than LGA775 since it is new and LGA775 is being phased out in favour of the 1366 and that other one for the Core i5 and i3 series.
