ok..what the hell, any ideas on how to fix?

any ideas, as you can see the text area is blank, but i can see the other txt

I've been having this same problem and this never fixed it when I tried it.

It has to do with your actual chatbox files. That happened to me when I edited the values for my screen resolution.
Try reinstalling CE, or extract the installer and copy out the the entire content folder.
Also, try a different screen resolution. If you're forcing it with the -vidmode w,h,r parameter, then remove that.

Ya, I was forcing 1920x1080 but getting rid of that fixed it.

Check to make sure you have a Keystone.dll file in the Halo root directory, that deals with chat and stuff.

For those who can't see text at all:
Another way to do it is going to the Microsoft website and downloading the msxml installation file. I was forced to do so when I was reinstalling CE and found that my CD was no longer working (go figure :rolleyes:).

I had this same problem, I uninstalled Halo Custom Edition (backed up my maps of course). And re-installed. And It worked for both my Halo and Halo CE.
Dunno if that helped just an idea.

it was screen size, for some reason though 800x600 is making the screen really small...
same goes for halo...
whole new problem, but i got the text to work :D
